Recommend a Distro
« on: January 05, 2005, 10:01:31 PM »

This could spark WWIII  :]
Which Distro is recommended for aMule??
I currently use eMule / Windows (tongue bitten in advance  :D)
I have tinkered with Linux over the years but never really 'stuck' with it. Have been thinking about setting up a router/firewall linux box -> thinking about using same for P2P.
I have on hand Mandrake 9, Redhat 7.2, Knoppix 3.3, Morphix, etc. earlier vers. (etc)
I see from another thread a lot of you use Gentoo which I haven't seen yet.

Gentoo is a nice distro (I run it myself), but IMHO it's only a good choice if you are the kind that likes to tinker ... On the other hand, the university I'm attending is using Gentoo. ;)

I use gentoo since august 2003, but I think that you should try with another distro, unless you choose to switch to linux as your first os

Hi,

Recommended distro for aMule? All...

aMule should be installed on every distro as standard package like vi !!!

Seriously, depending on your Linux level, Genntoo is not really for beginners, Suse and Mandrake are, Debian is Debian :)

Thats the problem with democraty, choosing needs brain use, windows choice doesnt :D
