mldonkey cvs still does not publish files on kademlia/overnet network
upload to pure kademlia/overnet client is possible using other client feature (that are able to add  as source a client that enter in the queue), and the trick only works for downloading files, no chance to upload a complete files to a pure overnet client (that moreover has not source exchange feature)
http://mldonkey.berlios.de/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3895&sid=
it seems that haven't been improvements on kademlia/overnet publishing module in the last year
in this time i have seen (from mldonkey stats) the population of amule:mldonkey users changing in this manner
1:3 (trusted mldonkey + new mldonkey)
1:1 (trusted mldonkey, new mldonkey disappeared from stats)
2:1
5/6:1

so seems that as the possibility for amule to control it as remote daemon grows many people switch client  from mldonkey (the best remote core in the last years) to amule
still mldonkey has the best web interface, tons of gui to control the remote core and a simply amazing applet for kde panel (kmldonkey applet) that allows to monitor instantly speed/mb transferred/files completed, etc

i hope to see something of similar for amuled as soon as possible

however, tnx to develovers for their efforts till now

Well, my feeling on mldonkey are... hum... let's say I don't like multi-network apps. Even less multi-network apps that publish versions with incomplete protocol implementation, yours was a good example. And other bugs on kad.

Mldonkey it's a bit more flexible... but usually the problably with all-around apps it's that it ain't very good on just one feature.

mldonkey didn't even bothered to use the emule kad implementation, they used their overnet one, then modified it a little to send proper kad things. And they keep sending NON proper kad things.

in this thread (august2004) the developer of kademlia emule module asks to mldonkey main developer details about kademlia implementation and errors generated by rogue clients
current mldonkey release 2.5.27
http://mldonkey.berlios.de/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2840&highlight=kademlia&sid=

after that mldonkey 2.5.28 was released, then the main developer discontinued the project

the last changelog before 2.5.28 with kad/overnet improvements was 2.5.23

2004/08/04: Fabrice (version 2.5.23 = 2.6pre5, tag release-2-5-23)
  - ocaml-3.08 is required to compile now.
  - Overnet and Emule-Kademlia share the same (partial) implementation:
      * Use global options "enable_overnet", "enable_kademlia" and
          "enable_servers" to choose which modes you want to use.
      * See the options for Kademlia and Overnet in donkey.ini.
      * Use kad_ and ov_ prefixes to call commands for these networks
         ("kad_buckets" gives the current connection status, "kad_boots"
           gives the number of known peers to bootstrap, "kad_stats" gives
           the current status of searches, "kad_store" for what is published
           on the client)
      * Currently working:
         * Search for keywords (normal searches)
         * Search for files (localisation of sources)
         * Replies to external searches

Publishing of files/keywords on the distribuited network seems still missing

BTW, after 2.5.28, the project is passed in the hands of other people and from then only few news about the implementation of the serverless network, just some patches to improve peers management

What I can say is that I have a file in download queue with very few sources (around four), and with Edonkey connected to Razorback 2 or Donkey 1, even after some days the file shows some sources but incomplete. But with Kademlia, the file shows complete.
Cheers!

Hey!
I'm looking for some relevant info about Kademlia. One of the things I'm interested in is How many clients are connected to Kad network? I guess there is no exact answer, but maybe some good approximations...
Regards!

Many.

Is it a good approximation?
