1) You're quite a patient one to wait ~23 hours before deciding that no french people know the answer...

2) aMule is a P2P app, not a file manager. Opening an arbitrary file with the default program associated with it is an easy task in Windows and on the Macs, but not in Linux.

cool thanks for this anser,

1) i am very few patient but i know it's not a good thing so if an administrator wants dell this topic, he can i would understand..

2) ...linux is not a file manager well...and windows yes ? i don't know, furthermore, we can in amule previsualised video files with his media player for example (and we can even changed this media player with the preferences), so i don't understand why we don't can open all finished files from amule  :s

This option was very useful in emule that's why i post this question ;

we would for example attribute soft for audio and video files, textes files

That's is not entirely true. Both Gnome and KDE provide such capability, which IIRC is standardized by LSB.

Noone is enforced to install/use either.

What we could do is specifying a tool for opening on system where no such standard exists. On most Unix system there's for instance xdg-open. I use neither KDE nor Gnome, but xdg-open would work for me, too. I might even write a script which handles starting the correct application for me.

My suggestion: Windows / Mac: Standard exists, use standard. Unix: Set compatible tool like xdg-open as default, but allow user to specify own tool. What do you think?

I don't know if these work or in which platforms do they work, but they exist and can in principle be used:

http://docs.wxwidgets.org/2.8/wx_wxmimetypesmanager.html#wxmimetypesmanager
http://docs.wxwidgets.org/2.8/wx_wxfiletype.html#wxfiletype
http://docs.wxwidgets.org/2.8/wx_wxfiletype.html#wxfiletypegeticon
http://docs.wxwidgets.org/2.8/wx_wxfiletype.html#wxfiletypegetopencommand

I've had my share of wxWidgets "multiplatformness". If somoeone else wants to give it a try, be welcome.

So what? Did you missed "standardized" part?

Ah, I see, "standardized by LSB" means that each and every WM out there supports it, right?

You should check meaning of word "standard". It means, that if you want to perform discussed function (open file), you should be sticking to the way standard define it. If some WM doesn't implement standard properly - it's not our fault.

i don't understand how i can use these  "wxWidgets multiplatformness" i am a new linux user..

On the ubuntu's forum there is a user who says me that at his home with gnome/amule 2.2.1, and in his preferences smplayer for videoplayer it runs !

i am in kde 3.5 hardy with amule 2.2.2 so i don't known it's possible or maybe it's because his pc uses gnome ....you think it's the explanation??

i will test with emule installed with wine just for curiosity
