[Problem] aMule share everything
« on: January 26, 2008, 06:36:20 PM »

Hi,
i need to share only few directories but amule is sharing every file on my incoming dir.

In amule.conf there is the incoming directory and it's right, then, in sharedir file there are the other directories that i checked on amule preferences (only the dir name in bold)

These directories are under the incoming dir, but this one is not "bold".
why amule is not sharing only the selected dir but it's sharing the whole incoming directory recursively?
maybe i have to move the directories outside the incoming one?
but i's a little bit "strange".

thanks
bye

aMule always shares the incoming dir. That is intentional, and will not be changed.

Cheers.

Yes, I know  ;)
but i thought that only files in incoming dir are shared and not sub-dirs at anylevel recursively.

thanks.

edit:
something wrong with me   :o lol
I just moved some directory out from incoming directory, but amule still sharing every-downloaded-file.
I think there is one last explenation.
amule share Categories directory too (by default), and this is illogical.

I would that when a finished to download a file, it is saved to a certein directory and not shared, and others yes.
That's why there are "Category" and "Shared Dir" features. is'nt it?
If not, whatever i choose to do (using categories, using the shared dir list, using nothing) is always the same thing.

I'm not sure that I explained myself right :D

Hmm, well, it shouldn't share it recursively, unless you've added the subdirs yourself. You can check ~/.aMule/shareddir.dat and see if they are included.

Checked amule.conf and shareddir.dat
running ./du <incoming-dir-with-shared-directory> there are 25Gb
but amule is sharing 50Gb, shared-dir (by default or which i selected) and all the other download file (that amule can "know" the path) by categories directory

I hope, i'll don't drag all files from categories to general one... :\ and move every single downloaded file to not-shared-dir by myself.

Yeah, the directories of categories are also shared.

You might want to try to "reload" all the shared files. I'll bet 25GB of shares magically disappear.

aMule can never know if you have moved files, unless you ask it to reload the entire directory structure and check all the files in there.

I always reload the shared files/dirs when i change something (path or when i move files).

Right now I'm sharing the right files.
My problem was categories, because them are always shared by default.
Incoming too but NOT recursively (i told yes the first time but it was wrong).
