Title: Ports forwarded but still Low-ID!

I'm using aMule 2.1.0 and I'm Low-ID. aMule log says:

But still, the TCP/UDP Port Connection Tester (http://"http://www.amule.org/testport.php") says Success The TCP port 8459 is available.

In Preferences > Connection I've set 8459 as Standard client TCP Port and 55492 as Extended client UDP Port and disable in unchecked. And UDP Port for extende server requests uses 8462 (TCP+3).

These 3 ports are forwarded to my fixed IP address by my wireless broadband router (Linksys WRT54G).

What did I forget? Is there another port to open? Or maybe it's my provider (free.fr (http://"http://adsl.free.fr/")) is blocking something?

Maybe there is a protocol change between 2.1.0 and 2.1.3? Would be very bad as this version is not avaible to my OS (Ubuntu 6.06).

Have you tried different servers?
According to the wiki servers sometimes give a LowID to a client even though the necessary ports are open:

Yes I've read that and I think this is not what happens: all servers I've tried gave me a Low-ID! :(

I just managed to install aMule 2.1.3 but I'm still Low-ID!

Also I've tried eMule for Linux. Same issue.

Any idea?

OK, would you mind to double-check the port-forwarding another time?

Please change your used ports to 54662TCP and 54672UDP as well and forward them correctly to your static ip. If you're lucky your provider won't block any ports in that range.

Please connect to 62.241.53.2:4242 or 62.241.53.16:4242 in order to avoid fake servers.

Search for something like "Virtual server" in your WiFi router and enable the TCP and UDP ports to act like virtual server. Bye!

He's got a Linksys WRT54G. (Me too.)

The options can be found at Applications & Gaming -> Port Range Forward

Yes I use this page to set my port forwards. See Port Range Forward section in my answer to Menion below.

And this is good as the eMule port test page (http://www.emule-project.net/home/perl/general.cgi?rm=porttest&tcpport=54662&udpport=54672&lang=1036&l=13) says TCP and UDP ports are open.

I don't see this "Virtual Server" option. What is that supposed to do? Here are the options that seems related to connection policy in the Linksys WR54G (Firmware Version: v4.30.5):

I just tried eMule 0.47c under Windows XP and activated the encrypted protocol and it works! I connect immediatly, with a High-ID.

So this is is due to my Internet provider that parse our traffic and blocks P2P using Service Control (http://www.cisco.com/cdc_content_elements/flash/csc/cisco_FINAL_no-loop.html) from Cisco System.

Hope this feature (encrypted protocol) to be enabled in aMule as soon as possible.

No, there's none atm. aMule'll most probably have this feature soon(tm), but this will take a while.

In the meantime you can try to run eMule 0.47c using wine. BUT: I've noticed some crashes with wine 0.9.9 while using the First Run Wizard and while clicking on the maximize button. Thus better leave them alone.
But in any other means this temporary solution seems to work fine and doesn't use too much resources. (My CPU was still working at 800MHz clock speed)

I've activated 'Allow obfuscated connections only' and there don't seem to be problems using wine.

Allright this is working for me too! Thank you wuischke!

Still working at 800 Mhz too. I use wine 0.9.9 and eMule 0.47c. i didn't try First Run Wizard but maximizing the window works for me.

But the font is Serif. I'd like it to use Sans-Serif. Is there a way to force that with wine?

Well, you could try to change the fonts in the wine-config.

Either open 'regedit' and open the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Fonts or change the fonts directly in the ~/.wine/system.reg-file. Search for '[Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Fonts]'.

Mine looks a bit different. I've got a load of fonts, but all free and tff.

Try to change "MS Serif"="serife.fon" to "MS Serif"="sserife.fon" and see if that changes what you want.

what I noticed is that if I run amule as root I have immediately a High ID while running it as normal user immediatly the message the my port is not open and consequently have a low id. plz try it and see if you get the same result. My guess is that it has something to do with the no ports open policy of Ubuntu but it should be possible to open ports for some programs right?
please let me know if you have figured it out.

Tried as root, not better. Anyway I gave up using aMule or wine+eMule under Linux. I'm now using a WinXP box to run eMule. :]

nop, was my fault... as root, other ports where specified, quite logic actually, but this port (just the standard 4662) is giving me a high ID while it was not being forwarded in the router... amule wasn't so active on it too with downloading files... just giving me a high ID... nothing more... sometimes I just don't get it, .......untill I understand.. ;(

what's your solution exactly?... what win XP box are you using?.. or just put a link to some relevant website plz.

Well by WinXP box I meant, another computer running it. Professional version actually but it does not matter. Then I use ports 54662 TCP and 54672 UDP, and I use "protocol obfuscation" in the security options. This is mandated for me as my ISP is blocking P2P trafic. And that's it, High-ID, average 100ko/s download!
