Hi all,
as you may have seen, the icons on the buttons in amule have been replaced with new ones different from the emule icons. Now IŽd like to invite you all to be creative and submit proposals for new program icons (the ones in the systray and taskbar).
Please post your images in this thread so we all can discuss them.
In parallel, you find a poll to decide if we should change the look of amule at all.
Greeings,
Lemonfan.

I think that new icons would be great, however, they should be very very nice :D
How about those incredible icons from Everaldo.com, like the "Crystal" pack for KDE, and Kids, etc?
They are very well made and extremely eye-candy ;)
See us,
-
Well, yesterday i talked about some new icons based on the Everaldo.com icon packs, but only after i realised that the current aMule icons are already from the "Kids" pack of Everaldo! I think there are much better icons to choose from there!!!
Take a look at this 3 examples i've chosen from 7250 icons of Everaldo. If you like them\ choose them, i can obviously send you the icons (48x48 or 32x32 format) this evening or tomorrow morning! NOTE: I did not changed the code from aMule source, i've "printscreen" and then copy-pasted with The Gimp 2.0.2 :D Its easy to notice that... ;)
Sorry for the restriction, but i have no http account (duh!) so i've subscribed one at 0catch.. However, they don't allow linking images, only htm.. This means you must click the links to see the fotos..
The first one, which is my favorite, and you can count 1 vote for it already, CLICK HERE (http://phracker.0catch.com/Phks_Choice.htm)
Now for the two alternatives (you can eventualy choose specific icons from these themes):
Click HERE (http://phracker.0catch.com/aMulePhk1.htm) and HERE (http://phracker.0catch.com/aMulePhk2.htm)!
So please, tell me what you think about this.. Give me some feedback!...
I have an exam tomorrow, so, i'd better not be online the rest of the day, I have "prolog" to study... ;(
See us around! [[ ]]'s

I really think that since aMule is more like a Gnome application (it's based on GTK, not QT), we should use icons that were meant for GNOME and not for KDE. I mean, everaldo's icons a nice, but they don't really fit with the overall GNOME/GTK desktop.
I'll go and look for some GNOME icons that can go match what we need.
-
well, it looks nice
(http://www.amule.org/bar.png)
-
Useless to say, i like them too ;) LOL
-
anyway we are on the way to make aMule skinable. everyone can use then what he like ;)
greets
-
That's good, since aMule is soon going to be used on so many different platforms.
Anyway, here's a quick try for aMule with GNOME icons. All icons are from Jimmac's website. I know, the Transferss' one isn't too good, but it the closeset I could find that goes somehow with "Trasnfering..." :D
-
skins will make amule more user friendly, for sure ;)
your bar looks nice too :)
-
hello,
i'm searching for a resource editor to edit the icons of my amule src.
Somebody have any idea? ?( ?( ?(
-
wxDesigner
-
and something free or Open Source?
-
Nope. wxDesigner is what we use.
-
We should ask EVERALDO for the new Icon :) his home page: http://www.everaldo.com/ He is VERY advanced icon artist
-
hi,
I've just found the attached screenshot in this thread and want to ask if it's possible to give amule this fresh, modern, next generation, svg-ish look? ;) imho the toolbar icons look much better this way!
bye.

really good but wx doesen't support svg and also the common image handler isn't so good, infact the current image are a bit screwed on the edges
-
What surprises me most, is the fact that all authors keep same order of toolbar icons. Which, IMHO is quite screwed.
Amule feature left-to-right layout. This means, that most frequently used icons must be on the left. This is the reason why button "Open" and "Save" are leftmost icons in ALL editors, doesn't metter what data being edited.
Similary, "Transfer" and "Search" are most frequently used. Overall, if we sort icons in order of usage frequence we'll get something like
Transfer, Search, Statistics, Shared,Chat,Setup. Import should not be there at all.

aside from this the icon for the import function isn't in line with the other ones (imho)... it's -hm- to colorful!? sorry, don't how to describe it correctly in english...
-
Why not start using users' icon theme?
like other gtk apps do, why not import icons from system theme?
...only if really needed (ie. for win/OSX users) give at least a default theme.
btw...
a classic-like theme (using tango icons)
a personal theme (using custom-tango icons)
refer to this: about Tango (http://tango-project.org/Tango_Desktop_Project)
(feedbacks are more than welcome)

Because... this is not a GTK app?
-
sorry :baby: ... wxWidgets not GTK
but
does exist a far possibility to do that ?
-
I don't think so. We seek consistency.
-
uuuh, I like that tango'd look! great job!
-
Before thinking to the look, you should seriously considere adding tunning options :
- slot control
- better credits / ranking in upload queue
That is those think that make P2P functionning.
And not looking for new theme, that wil take something like 1Mo more in the binary, and that will serve anything. most the time aMule is minimized and run in background, so where is the need to have a good looking?
that is my opinion, restricted to my mind. Up to you to take your decision, and make look n feel evolution to have more people using aMule.
To my mind, it is not necessary to change anything int he look. Because people looking for aMule, are much interessed by its multi-plateform features (not restricted to the only ZINDOZ, like other ed2k clients)
