Title: Problem building CVS version on Gentoo
Post by: Rampage on March 26, 2007, 04:09:55 AM
Hello all...

i tried to follow this guide:
http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo_Compile_In_Gentoo

to install amule-CVS on my gentoo box but i had no luck....

since the ebuild file link on the wiki was broken i tried using the one attached in this post:
http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=12402.0

i make all the dirs ports overlay and such...
when i launch the command:

Code: [Select]
# emerge -pv amule-cvs
it returns me this error

Code: [Select]
No portage entry for amule-cvs

and nothing more happens.. :(

any suggestion?

now i'm using amule-2.1.3.. and i'm using amuled + amuleweb...

do you suggest me to install CVS version? do i get improvements in functionality? or you suggest me to keep on working with the 2.1.3 till the official 2.2.0 package is released?

couse i'm pretty sick of getting disconnected from kad network and the server list not working properly :(

Definetly use the CVS version. Get a tarball here:
http://www.hirnriss.net/?area=cvs

Will work now, but please use http://amule.hirnriss.net/ for aMule related downloads, because i will keep that url working even if i decide to change the website.

Cheers,
boot

Hi bootstrap! :) Long time no see...

I enter http://amule.hirnriss.net/, but my browser changes it immediately to http://www.hirnriss.net/?area=cvs, I don't know why. I just copy/pasted the address that was there. I will pay attention to that from now on.

Cheers!

Hey Phoenix :)

Your browser is doing what it's supposed to do ;)
Your simply running into a rewrite rule which i use to keep the "amule.hirnriss.net" link working even if i change the real target.
