Title: Stuck on Kad: Disconnected with forwarded UPD port
Post by: ZeframCochrane on September 30, 2007, 07:33:15 PM
I use aMule 2.1.3 and can't get Kademlia to connect, it gives the message:

Kademlia Status: Running
Status: Disconnected

But i have enabled the Kademlia Network under the Options, correctly forwarded both 4662 TCP and 4672 UDP ports (the same ports showed in the "connection" tab of the options), and i use the new "http://www.emule-inside.net/nodes.dat" address.
What else should I do? I read lots of other posts regarding problems with Kad, but they all missed one of those three requirements.

Hi,

Maybe forwarding port 4665 as well would solve the problem in your case.

However, I am a new Mac and aMule user coming from Windows and eMule, and I am running into the same problem.  But here Kad goes to and fro between "Connected" and  "Disconnected" without obvious reason.  I still haven't found a solution to this problem.

port 4665

4665 TCP or 4665 UDP? I know it's probably self-evident, but i haven't figured out yet what difference there is between TCP and UDP.  :D yeah, i'm a noob  ;D ;D

BTW, i forgot to say, i'm running eMule under Ubuntu Linux "Feisty Fawn"

I read it is 4665 UDP.  TCP and UDP are different communication protocols, but I can't tell you more about this.

Maybe there is some information here:

Thanks a lot phoenix, but, out of exasperation, i had already finally opened the whole 4660-4800 interval, on both TCP and UDP protocol!
I'm quite sure it's not a firewall/router problem now...  ??? ??? ???
Anything else?

In my case, Kad is ending up being connected most of the time : it took it a few days of running since the installation.   If your installation is recent too, maybe it will be a matter of patience.

Very interesting, I'll wait and see what happens.

I'm still very curious as to why this happens, though!  ;) :D :D :D

Well, my Kad is disconnected again.   And when it is connected, sometimes it is firewalled and sometimes not, although neither the modem nor the computer are firewalled.  I will have to learn how it works in order to understand if all this is normal or not.

End of the serial, as far as I'm concerned : Kad is only disconnected or "firewalled" when there isn't much download activity : otherwise it remains connected and the arrow is "green".

Kad "firewalled" status happens from time to time to re-check firewall.

Thank you for clarifying.
