Title: Kad always disconnected
Post by: AudeB on June 15, 2008, 10:28:42 AM
Hi,

I am running aMule on OS X 10.5.3, my connection through ED2K works well but not Kad.
It is always disconnected. When I look at the Kad info here is what I get:
Kademelia Status:   Running
Status:                        Disconnected

I've open the ports, got a HighID on ED2K
When I download a new node file it goes from 200 to 6 nodes but always stay disconnected. When I disconnect Kad and bootstrap from known client, I get 'Read 0 Kad contacts'

The arrow is always red and Kad off in the status bar.

I've been looking around but couldn't find any answers, I don't even get a connecting or firewall status. I don't know what to do to connect to Kad.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are you using aMule 2.2.1 ? Older versions can't read current nodes.dat files any more.

Thank you for your reply, you're right... I didn't install the latest version.  I am now installing it but having some trouble that I am going to report on the compiling section.

Thanks for replying.

I think AudeB misunderstood the remark. However it does not address the issue at hand, why the KAD stays disconnected.

I think that the most likely possibility is that the ports open on your router or firewall are not UDP, most likely you have opened up TCP ports. Try checking that before you start the hassle of a new version.

I disagree.
Old aMule + current nodes.dat = zero nodes on startup -> KAD stays disconnected.

That's wrong in a lot of levels. Kad uses your current sources as nodes, too.

Yeah. I was thinking of Kad only mode (which is what I'm using), then it's true. (That's why I am unhappy about the occasionally emty nodes.dat, and you don't see the relevance.  ;)  )

vdb was right... it didn't solve my problem.

I have MacBook OS X 10.5 and using Airport Express. I opened the port as explained in http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Apple/AirPortExtreme/eMule.htm (http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Apple/AirPortExtreme/eMule.htm) but no luck.

My  firewall setting is "allow all incoming connections"

I don't know what else to do to make Kad work, any help on this will be great. Many thanks

Instructions look good. Did you download a new nodes.dat ?

Yes.... I've tried all the nodes of this post : http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=11992.0 (http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=11992.0), it starts high (ie 190) and step by step looses some until zero...

I've have this message in my log:

Seems like you don't get any replies.
