I think that having a feature that enables us to let the program select a random UDP and TCP port for the standard connections would be useful.
Besides, having the "recent" availability of the UPnP feature, this randomization can be very useful and transparent for the user.
just set in the configuration to randomize the ports and each time amule is started, he will randomly assing a number for each one (between some range)....
This would provide us with even more privacity even in my oppinion....
I also opened a thread in the bug tracker for the devs, but wanted to share the idea with the community...

Cheers!

Just an OT remark: For discussions and particularly discussions about feature requests, the forum is a preferred place. But to keep track of feature requests and bugs, the bug tracker are a better place.
I personally don't think there's an advantage from using random ports. If someone wanted to monitor your traffic, then changing ports will do very little unless he uses a badly designed software.

Thanks, iw as only giving an idea ;)

Configuration file is plain-text, so nothing prevent you from generating/changing it with simple perl script every time amule(d) start.

Random ports will make router setup definitely harder. And people who today don't find the option to change their ports will also never activate this feature.
Also, if you restart the mule your sources will still find you. But not if you change your port.
