Ok so i've tried the setup that was described in amule +ff and installed the amule-utils package. though i've not rebooted the system(as with most packages i dont have to) i'm still unable to get ed2k links from FireFox 3 to amule.
if there a add-on in firefox that works, or something in the about:config i missed. accord to that post, i've set it up as they suggested.
let me know as i would like to click to add instead of C&P ed2k links.. lol .. less time consuming.
Thanks in advance for the help.

wuischke : thanks for the link, but i found that link in another post on this forums. i've modified the about:config file with the settin provided on the page given. but i do have one question. when addin the boolean and string to the file, the written entry say /usr/bin/ed2k is the ed2k generic or specific ie /usr/bin/amule(specific) or /usr/bin/ed2k(general) as i'm using amule.
thought i didnt happen to look to see if a /usr/bin/ed2k file was there.. if it is and that's what i need instead of amule i'll change it.
thanks agian.
edit : i've checked the about:config and i've noticed after adding "Right click on the list, select New, then Boolean; insert network.protocol-handler.external.ed2k as Preference Name and true as Value" that the display in about:config shows it as a string instead of boolean. is this just a display thing or is it not registering properly? let me know as i'm a little confused as to why is this displayin this way.

I also had firefox 2 working fine with aMule, but since I changed to F9, and Firefox 3, association stopped working. Not it complains that ed2k protocol is not associated to any app, but the entries are there in about:config, so I'm lost.
Regards.
Edit: I found the solution, I had to create this boolean preference in about:config
network.protocol-handler.expose.ed2k
and set it to false. After that, I clicked over an ed2k link, and firefox asked me which app I wanted to use to open the link. I choose /usr/local/bin/ed2k and it worked!
