Title: Recursive directory sharing
Post by: arthas on April 05, 2004, 12:34:48 PM
Hi all!

I'm using aMule 2.0.0rc1. I would like to recursively share some directory on my hard disk, but that seems not possble. If I choose the parent directory it only shares files contained in that one, and not it's subdirs. Since those subdirs are really a lot, and they change often, it's a pain to share by hand.

Is there any way to do a recursive share, or could that be implemented if it's not? ;)

Thank you in advance, Michele.

Heh, I'd suggest you put this in feature requests...

Hi!

An update: when I share recursively, aMule begins to display errors when the shared files become more than 1800 or so. Dialog boxes with errors such as too many open files appear continuosly.

I'm using Slackware Linux 9.1, with ReiserFS, if this might help diagnosing the problem.

Thanks, Michele.

I also am experiencing this problem. I'm running debian sid, aMule 2.0.0rc3. I've got 1116 shared files. It's running on an ext3 partition, so wrt what Michelle said above, i don't think it's a problem with the filesystem.

let me know if there's any more information you need

Jonathan

Hi all!

With 2.0 rc6 the CTRL key seem to work no more for recursive directory sharing. Anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks, Michele.

It worked! I wasn't aware that it made some difference to click on the writing or the icon. ;-)

Thanks, Michele.

Hmm..I just tried what you said (right-clicking in the folder) and aMule crashed instantly. I have no idea what it told, because I always start it using a shortcut, not a console, the fact is it crashed. Any idea why? this is RC6, wxGTK 2.5.2 Unicode and GTK2, Mandrake 10.0

Thanks.

Because of the way ed2k/kad networks are designed, it's not a good idea to share so many files. Amule probably does not freeze, it just takes a long time to hash that many files. Anyway, sharing them all is useless, since no server will accept your amule publishing that many files. It's better to share few big files than many small files.

Regards.
