First stop screaming.
Then delete the file named ED2KLinks from aMule's config directory.

Hi There!.. Do you have an idea how can I stop Amule crashing? It seems like suddenly is not working right . Do you think it may have a bug?

BASICALLY I DELETED THE ED2KLinks BUT STILL NOT WORKING? ... THEN I DELETED THE ED2KLinks.lock and no luck. What else could it be?

Wow, Stu you're very patient today.

DEETECT: Please attach the log file here so we can have a look at it, maybe there's something inside which helps us to identify the problem.

Please click on "Preview" underneath the message input box to get to the reply interface.

There you can click on "Additional Options..." and some fields will open. There's the option to "Attach" a file.

Just rename it to logfile.txt and it will work (as long as it isn't bigger than 2MB).

You're screaming again. Please stop that unless you don't want our help.

I had no luck with the logfile, we need more information. Could you please start aMule in a terminal and post the terminal output when it crashes? I believe you have to start Terminal.app, then drag the aMule icon into the terminal and press Enter to start aMule this way.

If you start it, is there something which looks this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Terminal)? If yes, then it's terminal.app.

No I didnt see the image of the link you sent. Let me tell you what I did ..
Library Folder >> Application Support >> Terminal Folder and then I dragged the Amule icon in the Terminal Folder and started the program.
I havent done anything yet though cause I wanted to know if I am doing it correct.

Wait.

1. Start the Terminal. You should see something similar to the wikipedia article above. (black background, white text).
2. Drag the aMule icon in the Terminal window. When you do this, some text should appear in the terminal.
3. Press Enter, aMule should start.
4. When aMule crashes, copy any output the terminal shows and show it to us.

I took a picture shot how it looks like when I opened the Terminal and dragged the Amule icon.

IM: No.

Looks like my instructions were wrong. Replace steps 2 and 3 above by the following:
Quote from: lionel77
Now, drag the aMule application icon from wherever you keep it and drop it onto the terminal window. Terminal will insert the path to the application onto the command line. It will also add a space after the path.
Delete the space at the end of the path.
Add "/Contents/MacOS/amule" to the end of the path and press return.

If this doesn't work, please follow all steps here: http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=7670.0

Type
Code: [Select]
rm /Users/djdaviddee/Library/Application Support/aMule/muleLockand you'll be able to start aMule again.

In your first terminal output, there wasn't a "charles-pc:~ djdaviddee$" in the end. Was there no such line in the end even after the crash?

I currently left it on without doing any search for any titles. I deleted  the ED2KLinks on the Amule folder and then I retry again in a few.
It is very strange that it was starting to play around by crashing.
As for the code you typed.. does it works only when the application is not on?

When we ask you questions or ask you to do something, that's not just because we like to write. We really need your answers.

See, in order to help you, we need more information. You're the only one who can give you these information.

Some basic information about a crash are usually printed in the Terminal when starting aMule inside one. It will print some crash information and then there's again a prompt in the end, that is the text "charles-pc:~ djdaviddee$".

If this is not the case, aMule did not crash, but something else happened. (bad)

I understand what your saying,. The thing is that when the amule crashes .. I have no idea how I trace the crash. When I open the terminal box and place the amule icon in the box, nothing really happen.
The amule is only crashing as soon as I double click on a title . For example last night after I restarted the laptop, I clicked on 1 song and it worked but then on the next it crashed. This is what I am find it strange.
Title: Re: AMULE 2.2.5 FOR MAC OSX NOT WORKING
Post by: Stu Redman on January 07, 2010, 01:02:14 PM
You mean "double click on a download in the download tab to open the list of clients" ? You have to be more precise. Does it always happen on the same download? Are there download where you can do it several times without crash? You have to provide more information like that.
Title: Re: AMULE 2.2.5 FOR MAC OSX NOT WORKING
Post by: DEETECT on January 07, 2010, 01:14:53 PM
Sorry for not describing well!
This is what is happening exactly:-
Amule starts normal without any problems then I select from Type: KAD to download, I even tried Global too
Then for example when searching for a title to download it's all fine but when you double click on the title, it crashes
I restarted the laptop for several times to see whether its only a specific title but it does the same problem on various titles.
Please et me know what other information I need to give you.
Thanks a lot

So it crashes when you want to add a new download from the search tab. Now we're getting somewhere.
Please try the following: right-click your search result, select "copy ED2K link". Then click on the ED2K link field at the bottom of the Window and paste the link in it.
Now look at it. Is there a '/' in the file name? Remove it. Commit it.

hi there.. i followed your instruction and I checked whether there is  '/' in the file name and i didnt find anything so I double clicked on the file to download and unfortunately it crashed.

Looks harmless to me (and downloads fine here). Wait - when I search for it I find it, but there is definitely something wrong here. There are several results for the hash (black dot in front of it), so when you doubleclick it it expands the tree instead of adding the download.
But the tree expansion goes wrong. In SVN debug I get an assertion, 2.2.6 expands it (but wrong). I'll investigate.

Please try "right-click/download" instead of doubleclicking. Does that work?
