Title: 2.2.6 crashes when closing multiple search tabs
Post by: bobmarleyfan on January 09, 2010, 09:33:14 AM
On the user account where aMule still works I noticed that 2.2.6 regularly crashes whenever I close several search tabs. I close 1 tab and immediately close another will show a busy mouse pointer for 2 seconds, then aMule crashes. This happens regularly if not always.

Platform: OS X 10.5.6

I downloaded this
aMule-2.2.6-x86-Leopard / aMuleCore-2.2.6-x86-Leopard
OS X: 10.5+
Arch: Intel x86 (32-bit)
gcc: 4.2.1
wxWidgets: wxWidgets 2.8.10 + wxTextCtrl patch.

build 01 + 03 (03 does not include anything but the aMule executable)

To avoid any misunderstandings: My aMule crashing on startup issue on my main user account is still not solved.

aMule is never started on more than one user account at a time.

How many tabs do you have open, and which of them are the ones you close? This might matter.
Is the search ongoing or finished when you close the tabs?

searches were all finished.

had about 3 or 4 search tabs.

closed always the one on the right side. then the next one.

Bleh.  >:(

That's the bug with closing the last search tab which I introduced 9786 and unfortunately was  backported to 2.2.6 . I wonder why nobody else complained until now? I just noticed and fixed it in SVN two days ago.
Until the next release just don't close the rightmost search tab as a workaround. It's only save to close it when it's the last one open.  :(

You really wonder why nobody complained? This bug was in there for such a long time, that users got used to leave the last tab open, or like me, don't close them at all, they get closed automatically when shutdown.

This is (was) a different bug, with the same result though.

I don't have this problem on Xubuntu 8.04.3. ::)

It depends a bit on the runtime lib I believe. I've also seen that it asserted in debug builds and skidded over it in release builds, but not on all platforms.

heheheheh, I was one of those guys :)

btw, it crashes when you close it using the x icon, but you could clear/close all the tabs using the contextual options without problems... (at least I was doing that)

I don't have this problem in 2.2.6. Maybe others don't have it either, that's why they are not complaining. ::)
