Why is aMule still on gtk1 ???
Can you build it on GTK2 please.
gtk1 looks really out dated...
Thanks ;)
-
Why don't you compile and link it with gtk2 then :P
-
What?
I'm sorry... you can do that?
I would like to know how to do that.
I'm using fedora core 2 rpm. (2.0.0rc5)
Why is gtk1 set by default?
I saw this "Only GTK1 is supported. Don't try GTK2 anymore. wxWidgets isn't ready for it."
Thanks
-
Well, the roms are built against gtk1, but you can compile yourself aMule using gtk2 following the instructions on wiki.amule.org, make sure you do --enable-gtk2 on wxwidgets compilation.
Maybe is time to start making GTK2 packages for releases.... I'll consider it for next release.

I think it is :) so that's in pre6 ? :D
You guys are great... keep up the good work.
I really love gtk2.. the only non-gtk2 app I use is aMule.
I have no choice, it's the best mule client for GNU/Linux.
Thanks for your time

Thanks to you for using it.

Please do - i would love to see amule running on GTK2.
I tried to compile myself using the guides here - but what can I say... I gave up after a while (to many configure errors)
I guess I a slave under the rpm:s ;)

I support my collegues in requesting that next packages will be GTK2 :P
-
a good gtk2 support need wx 2.5.x which is the unstable branch... 2.6.0 is not so far and will be the stable branch with a good gtk2 support

I vote for a gtk2 port. the only package, other than amule, that I know uses gtk1 still is xmms. I can't understand why.
-
once again.. because wxGTK isn't ready for gtk2 (memleaks/high cpu)
cheers ;)

what about qt ?
-
until wxQT isn't released (and up to now, it's not even in alpha stage), qt can't be supported.
hopefuly in some months aMule will begin to play with Qt ;)
Greetings!

Oh my. aMule using QT??? :baby:

I hope it's a joke. wx as gui toolkit is quite good. And what about all sockets, timers, strings, files etc etc ?
But best of all - Qt isn't free everywhere. Not on windows.
-
nope, not a joke. wxQt is an existing project ;-)
well, Qt exists. whether free or not, so ppl can decide what to use. variety is good hehe

wxQt is an existing project
It must be weirdest idea I ever heard. One cross-platform toolkit over another.
-
Ya, lol, why would one use one wrapper over another ?( Anyway, as far as I know, wxWidgets 2.5.3 defaults out to use GTK2, and is also stable. Did any of you guys experience any special mem/cpu leaks when using this latest wxWidgets version linked toward GTK2?

I'm using amule 2.0.0rc7 with wxGTK 2.5.3 linked to gtk2 since november 13. I didn't test it extensively, because I'm compelled to shut down my pc almost every night but I didn't notice cpu or memory usage higher than usage I had with wxGTK 2.4.2 linked against gtk1
-
Just FYI, gtk is cross-platform too. Gimp, Gaim, Xchat, probably even more apps all work on Windows and they all use gtk there.
Anyway, I've been using aMule with wx-cvs linked to gtk2 for quite some time now with no memory leaks and cpu usage is almost zero. So I can only say good work aMule devs :baby:
