I'm trying to install on Mandrake 10.0 and currently have the following wx-related packages installed.
wxBase-2.4.2-1
libwxPythonGTK2.4-2.4.2.4-2mdk
wxGTK-2.4.2-1
wxPythonGTK-2.4.2.4-2mdk
libwxgtk2.5-2.5.0-0.cvs20030817.1mdk
libwxPythonGTK2.4-devel-2.4.2.4-2mdk
wxGTK-devel-2.4.2-1
If I remove this, a lot of programs are bound to stop working. At the very least, I'll ahve to reinstalll (some newer version) of these packaged.
Is it really necessary to remove all of these to install RC8 on Mdk 10.0? If so, does anyone have a link to newwer versions of these which will work once aMale rc8 is installed?

hi,
the problem is that mdks wxgtk is buggy and amule will not run well with it.
having a mix of diferrent wxgtk versions could cause crashes. so if you don't want to remove the mdk ones, u'll have to compile all the stuff yourself (wx & amule) using prefixes .. http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Using_another_wxinstall
cheers

Ack, what a nightmare! I had to upgrade to gtk 2.0 2.4.9 (and all that that entails) last night, to install an upgrade to emelfm. It took about 20 dependent packages to get but eventually managed it. Today, bittorrent won't work as it there's a problem with python. So I'm trying to upgrade all the python packages to the same level, which means all the wx components have to be upgraded to 2.5 at the same time. I've nearly finished that, except wxBase version 2.5 doesn't seem to exist, which makes it all completely unusable. And as soon as I close aMule it will never open again!
Is mandrake's wxgtk really buggy or is it just the fact that it's linked against gtk2 that causes the problem with amule?
Either way, it looks like it's impossible to have these three programs (emelfm, amule, bittorrrent) installed concurrently which is a complete PITA.
Decisions, decisions...

OK, after another round of installations, the following configuration seems to be stable, and allows aMule, emelfm and bittorrent to co-exist (well, no crashes in the last 12 hours, so...)
