Hi Folks!
Current CVS snapshot tarballs now have working proxy support. Proxy types supported are SOCKS5, SOCKS4 and HTTP. Notice that when using proxy in a real situation, i.e., no external internet access, you will be lowid, even with SOCKS5 proxy. This is due to the way SOCKS{4,5} protocol was designed to handle incomming connections. But hey, you got from nothing to lowid, that's an improovement! ;)
On the other hand, SOCKS5 aMule code supports UDP, so if your SOCKS5 server has UDP support enabled, you get a lowid on steroids. :D
We need people to test this feature, so that we can guarantee a bug free aMule 2.0.0 final. Please, test and report any problems, we will be glad to fix any issues.
Cheers!

so we can now tunnel amule traffic with `ssh -D 1080 proxyhost`

Hinnerk,
Yes, remember to set the proxy type on aMule to SOCKS4, sshd does not support SOCKS5.
Cheers!

hmm, my ssh manpage tells me:
Currently the SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 protocols are supported, and ssh will act as a SOCKS server.
afair ssh does not support socks4a (socks incl. dns)
i will check that later!

I think dns isn't needed. Except for the serverlist, but I think their will bne a workaround.

Hinnerk,
