Title: enable kademilia (kad)
Post by: vanaedium on June 06, 2005, 03:15:33 AM
Hi I see on the source code that is present the kademilia directory.
Is there any solution to enable before I compile it with some option like --enable-kademilia?
Or have we to attempt again? And how much?
Thanx
Van

I said: next request I drop Kademlia development. You managed to do it. Congratulations. Kad will never be on aMule.

Nah, I can't believe it... are you really stopping kad development for this reason?
Really??

Will you continue kad import if I buy you a nice cotton candy?

I was thinking about continuing it, but as you brought the stuff up again, I will not continue it.

take your time Kry... no need to hurry... some waiting will not harm us...

People... better to have good kad support and wait a year (or more) then to have Kad support that does not work properly...

@Kry... vanaedium is a new user, please exuse him, he was just curious after finding a directory.

Ps. What is so great about Kadmelia? Doesn't it just use connection-speed/CPU space, because you are running a server if you got it installed?

[think]Ps. What is so great about Kadmelia? Doesn't it just use connection-speed/CPU space, because you are running a server if you got it installed?[/think]
Your not really running a server, but your a part a serverless network. If you mean with server, that you forward and execute f.e. search request made by other users, then you're right. I prefer to call it a node of the network
What's great about Kademlia? If you're just downloading mainstream: nothing, it even harms your upload due to additional overhead.
But if you wanna dl a rare file, your only chance to find sources is sometimes kademlia.
Same applies for Kad-search, I've found some really rare files (1source ;)) just using kad, global search found nothing.

BTW: Amuledevs seem to be really sadistic...:D You like to see the poor users suffering when they hear 'Kad will never be on aMule'
Ever thought of the a bit older users, who could get a heart attack when they hear this? You're really evil.
