Better some hours late than endless "soon", huh?
There it is, aMule 2.0.3 is out, named The "Hell 2.0.3: Now with improved daemons!" version.
This release is, among other things, focused on amule daemon great socket improvements (check it out!) and fixes the webserver and EC passwords on 64 bits archs, solaris compilation and enables webserver on Mac.
As every 2.0.x release, this is not a release to be in the bleeding edge - that's what CVS is for. This is a stable and friendly release (shamelessly copied from previous post).
Want to read the changelog? Here (http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Changelog_2.0.3) is the place.
What, you just care about dowloads? Then click here (http://www.amule.org/files/files.php?cat=22).
You think Kry spends less and less time on every new release post? It's 3am, dammit!
Following our current release scheme, we release tarball and some binaries (Mac, some rpms, etc), and the rest of them will follow soon (as soon as the packagers do them!).
NOTE: All that people that downloaded 2.0.3 tarball before this news post was here, you better download it again. There was a tarball up on berlios for some time that had a serious bug (the one that delayed the release) that made it crash at startup. Blame volpol :P
-
Mac binnaries will be up tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.
-
Mandriva 2005LE package is up.
as always there: http://ftp://mandrivauser.de/rpm/GPL/andyrtr/2005/RPMS/
-
Mac binary up here (http://www.amule.org/files/details.php?file=126).
Thanks to Lortie on #amule on irc.freenode.net for testing it, amuleweb included.
-
hi,
seems to work fine again, as usual. - mni thx... :)
hereby something like "official" eD2k-links for the -atm- actual files, as requested (hi dummy00001 and others)
btw: please keep the downloaded files in your share with prio "release", to avoid other downloading ppl have to wait for them in your queue for ages or so...

(Lortie) no prob
thanx for the good work :baby:

Man, this version is using much less resources then the others versions. About 10% of my cpu. The previous ones used more than 30%. (I have a PII 300 Mhz)
I dunno if that was the objective of the release, i just know that i love it! Tks! :baby:

I've downloaded but I'm not running it yet. A question: will I lose my current downloads as I launch the new version?
Thanx for it anyway
:D
-
no, you wont loose your downloads if u run amule using the same user.
-
I get an error message when I try and launch the new aMule, it says " You can't run the aMule app, it may be damaged or incomplete ". Any tip?
-
Which one, Mac? Try downloading it again..
-
Does aMule 2.0.3 not obey the Download limits or shows Download Stats wrong.
My limits are set 16/4 KB/s but mostly i see higher upload stats.

I´ve made new packages for mandriva 2005LE. They now include amuled, all man pages and are builded against wxGTK2.6.1. 8)
As always get them there:
http://ftp://mandrivauser.de/rpm/GPL/andyrtr/2005/RPMS/amule-2.0.3-2.1.205rtr.i586.rpm
or add my hole repository
urpmi.addmedia andyrtr http://ftp://mandrivauser.de/rpm/GPL/andyrtr/2005/RPMS/ with hdlist.cz

Thanks Andy :)

yet another great release. thanks everyone

Hi folks, I would love to install this new release in my PC, but after many days waiting for someone to upload a FC version, it is still unavailable yet. Why is it being available upto the previous release and it isn't for this one? ?(
I would really thank to have a FC3 (or 2) RPM available. Thanks a lot! 8)

OK, it took me some time but here we go:
Since Debian kicked out both amule and any wx >2.4.3 out of Sarge this sin't a nice time for users of Debian stable. I put myself up to the task to backport both wxGTK-2.6 and aMule-2.0.3 to Debian SARGE, thoroughly tested these packages and created my own little repository.
To use it just add this line to you /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://amule-debian.dyndns.org/ debian/
After that you can just 'apt-get install amule' to always get the newest aMule version. I splitted my packages into these five .debs:
-amule - the "classical" monolithic amule
-amule-daemon - amuled
-amule-gui-utils - GUI utils, wxcas and alc
-amule-console-utils - all utils which don't need a GUI: amulecmd, amuleweb, alcc, cas
-amule-utils - dummy package that pulls in both amule-gui-utils and amule-console-utils
-amule-common - shared files which are needed by all packages.
The needed wxgtk- or wxbase-packages will be automatically installed. I THINK they should not interfere with wx*2.4 packages, but I give no guarantees. Since this is my first try at Debian packaging (and especially wx was quite a challenge for a newbie) these packages don't completely live up to the standards of debian and I might make errors. Feel free to report the error either here or on IRC and I will do my best to fix them.
Users of testing / unstable: These packages MIGHT work for you, but since i don't have a box running debian unstable I have no means of testing so and will most likely not be able to do anything against problems specific to these distributions. That might change in the near future, but for now you are on your own...
And one last word for amuled:
I have NOT provided any init scripts or automagic setup helpers. You just have to set up everything (for amuleweb) as described on Wiki: http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Webserver
I haven't included the remote gui until now since I don't think it is ready enough for use in it's 2.0.3 version. But if enough people bug me about this I might still include it ;)
And now: Have fun :)
edit:
These packages have also been confirmed to work with Xebian (Debian on XBox).
-
thedude0001,
Congratulations for your hard work! :)
Cheers!
-
Just to confirm that everything is fine ;-)
P.S. I haven't found plans for Kad release. For which aMule release it is planned? Is it any usable in CVS version?
-
well.. read the 2.0.0 release thread ;)
..kad is planned for 2.1.0
cheers
-
edit:
Forget about this, my versions no longer work with testing / unstable (and were never meant to work, so I won't "fix" them. From the beginning I was only wanting to make a backport for stable).
-
Just a tip, maybe it could be useful for somebody:
- in Synaptic I had to switch off other repositories to install the "dude's one".
Good work indeed! :baby:
-
Yep, If you have my rep in your sources list, and don't use pinning, you'll never get the dudes pkg's, beacause my version is much higher. But yesterday it didn't compile, when you get such a day, you'll get thekdudes pkg's, because I have none.
p.s. I shouldn't post when I am drunken.

Excellent post.
I want to build my own debian packages but till now I didn't dig enough to find information on it. Can you give some links where I can find information about it: build debian packages and a respository like the one you build.
Thanks in advance.

@zoda
please this is kinda off topic here, write him a PM or email
thnx

Didn't we talk about this on IRC yesterday? At least somebody asked this question there, and I'll give you the same answer:
For starters the Debian New Maintainers Guide: http://www.us.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/
After that the Policy Manual and Developers Reference at http://www.us.debian.org/devel/ are quite handy, and also take a look at the manpages of the involved tools. There is a HowTo for a repository somewhere on the Debian website in the Developers corner, search for it there. If you don't understand something there's a channel #debian-mentors on irc.freenode.net for users who try to build their first packages.
And yes, I know it's a lot to read, but you'll need most of it. Packaging software for Debian is not something you learn in 30 minutes ;)
-
For users of my repository: The "dude.gemil.de" address is deprecated. Please change your /etc/apt/sources.list to use this address:
deb http://amule-debian.dyndns.org/ debian/
For now they both point to the same machine, but due to traffic limitations this might change in the future without further warning...
-
What about the 2.1.0 version, shouldn't be released already???
Been looking forward to it for months man :baby: :baby: :baby:
-
2.1.0 will be released soon (http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Soon)... ;)
