Every file I download with aMule that is a WMV does not work. Any other movie files that I download work, but I have not been able to download a single WMV file that works.
Depending on which movie player I use, it either plays a scrambled movie, I get an error about it being encrypted, or I get an error saying the filename indicates it is WMV format but the contents indicate it is ASF format.
I searched Google and I found someone who uses Suse that is having the same problem, but no solution.

Again all other formats work but no wmv formats work. I can view wmv files in webpages without a problem, only wmv files I download from aMule don't work.
Please help,
Thanks!

Fake wmv files that require a license.

I don't see any way how amule could selectively corrupt your wmv files. More likely, the wmv you are getting with amule are using a different codec than the ones you are downloading from the web (wmv is a container format in a similar way as avi or ogg) and the player you are using is not supporting that particular codec.
So I would suggest trying a different player, maybe even WMP on *gasp* windows. ;)
EDIT:
Or what Kry, who was apparently faster, has said. ;)

Apparently? I was OBVIOUSLY faster :P

so it is just a coincidence that EVERY single wmv file I have downloaded is corrupt or used a different codec? If it was only a couple or even if most didn't work but some did I could understand that. But I have a hard time believing that when it happens to every single one.

Try a download per http by any trustful server and test wheter the wmv work or you just didn't install the proper codecs.

that's what I said in my first post. Any other WMV files work. The only ones that do not work are the ones I download from aMule. There has not been a single WMV file downloaded from aMule that works. Other video formats work, and I cam play other WMV files that don't come from aMule

The files you download are simply crap, use other file file/container formats like avi, mkv or mpg.

Try viewing the wmv files on a windows machine, and see if it works or not. If not, then most probaly your files are damaged/encrypted/whatever.
