Title: amule wont start, says it is already running but it isnt

I recently uppgraded from 2.0.3 to 2.1.0 and everything worked fined. Then I messed up my system a bit but somehow recovered it (had to used myu old backuped config files) and amule suddently stopped to work. it Gives this:

There is an instance of aMule already running Raising current running instance. tom@tom:~/.aMule$ I tried to completely remove it and reinstall it but it did not help, 2.0.3 works fine though (when I tried to install it), any ideas?

remove the file

muleLock

from your .aMule dir, if you are sure its not running...then restart

thanks, finally works.

(strange, I am almost sure I at least once erased also .aMule but ...maybe I did not)

Hi,

I've read your answer and I wa wondering if you had any other solution. MY aMule wa working (or so I thought), but when I clicked on the task bar's aMule tab (don't know how it's called in english) it dissapeared. My router's connection status light was blinking as usual and SuSE said there was an instance of aMule running when I tried to run it again. But I rebooted and the problem persists.
Now that I read your answer to sup, I searched for the muleLock file but no luck.

Do you know any other reason why this could be happening?

Forget it!!!!!

I'ts finally working. The file was there but I missed it some how (don't know how, I looked at them one by one. . . .)
