Hi all,
The new version 1.0.8 of aMule is out ...
Have a look at http://www.amule.org/index.php?change to see changes (not many but i'm working on preferences rewrite and it take all my time).
The good stuff was certainly the new "Systray Integration" by Hetfield.
Hope you like ...

you are the only developer???
damn, just read the page of xmule2...
well i got amule now, and I'll stick with it, it does what it has to do...
again its really a pitty it had to go this way. but why dont you join the guys at xmule2??? the development is scattered, this way... and the seperation of gui and core is quite good, I think... I use kde cvs and it crashes quite often whould be nice if my donkey whoulnt be affected ;-)
I guess after a few months the fog over the battlefield has gone away and we can have an overview and make a final decision what client to use...
ah whatever you do, tnx for the work... I appreciate it!

xmule2 is just "another full-rewrite of edonkey protocol software". Maybe we will have a very good client, but that's not for a near future. We already have mldonkey which does just that.
I prefer the aMule-way of just forking eMule (using all the code of eMule developers) for Linux.

I think thats a very good point. aMULE is based on a good, working codebase, while xmule2 is build from scratch. so for the time being, aMULE is much more mature, and simply does WORK - yep I read a bit more about xmule2 ;)
So aMule is at least for me the solution for my not-workin xmule...
tnx :D

IMHO xMule is dead. Due to the fact that xMule's base is v0.26d, it has "a few" problems with Lugdunums 16.40 serverversions ;). So long live aMule :).

BigBob, thanx a big time for your contribution so. I as well like the idea of forking emule and I grew a bit tired of waiting for the core for xmule2 to be build from scratch. Last time I had some issues with uploading using version 1.0.5 so I stopped following development a bit, but now I see there's deb's available and your working on the priority-integration I can do nothing but thank you in order to support this project.
If only I knew some c++ to help you out.. Hope the learning has some progress for you ;)

yeah, i'm an emule fanatics and use it since a long time on windows (ouch .....) , and now i have a linux box to share my connexion (and of course to use some cool daemons ;)) i had discovered xMule, but since the latest lugdunum patch i can't use it anymore on the most important servers.
and i'd found aMule another port emule, and yeaaaaahhhh it works very well, and i wanna great bigbob (and the rest of the team) for bringing us a working and kewl port
oh well the new systray features are cool, thanx Hetfield ...
