Title: Protocol Obfuscating
Post by: Guest on September 09, 2006, 04:20:00 PM
Hello to all the aMule community!

I'm totally new here, and never used aMule Yet.
For several years now, i have been using mlDonkey on my debian sarge box, and it worked very nice.

But since few monthes (in france where i'm living) internet providers are blocking ed2k packets... based on their very basic formating. That's why the new beta eMule release has this feature, packets obfuscation (But i can't run eMule on my deb box ^^)

So i asked on the mlDonkey board if they were planing to implement this feature, and i got some kind of very anti-enthusiastic response ^^

So, my question is, will this feature be implemented soon in aMule?
If yes, is there a way to get a command-line only version of aMule (My debian box is a very ancient thing, and i prefer not running any X server on it, it is screenless i only use SSH for it).

Thanks a lot for your time, and good luck for the aMule project!
Pierre.

P.S.: If someone answers, can you please tell me at hickscorp at gmail dot com ? Because i'm not a registered user here and i want to be warned when an answer comes ^^ Thanks!

1st: Board description says: "Questions about our board, NOT ABOUT AMULE"

2nd: Protocol obfuscation: see here (http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=11004&sid=)

3rd: Command-line only aMule: aMule Daemon (http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/HowTo_Compile_aMuled)

4th: Registration is free :)

Thanks for the very fast answer,

About the registration, i know it's free, the point is that i didnt receive the confirmation email and i can't post messages until i'm validated... If any admin can solve the problem, my reg name is HicksCorp, address i submited is hickscorp at gmail dot com. I'll check on gmail, maybe a spam filter problem...

About the obfuscation thing, i'm not sure i understood. In the post you pointed, people say that "aMule 0.47b solved his issue with packets blocking.". But, i can't manage to find if he did a misstake (wanted to write eMule 0.47b) or if there is a aMule version corresponding to 0.47b... Light my darkness ^^

About the forum, sorry for posting in the wrong place, how can i change my topic place now (Remember, i'm guest, i cant login yet).

Anyway, thanks again for the answer, i am actually trying to compile aMule last CVS snapshot, but i'm having trouble with wxWidgets... i'll win over the machine for sure ^^

I'll keep people informed so if  new people ask the same question, there will be a complete answer ^^

Best regards,
Pierre.

I reopened this thread and merged Hicks' second one with this one to reduce clutter.

@Hicks:
If you can't get the registration worked out you might want to try pm'ing deltaHF, Xaignar, or Kry about it.

He did mean eMule - aMule isn't at 0.47b.

So, is the obfuscation thing actually handled by the CVS version of aMule? oO

Thanks for answering my post ^^

Pierre.
