I have been using P2P file sharing for some time now and I find it so much easier to look for files using a bitrate filter. What if you want a MP3 with premium sound quality? Then you are going to have to download one with a bitrate of 192 or higher. What if you want an MP3 for editing? Then you better get a MP3 with the bitrate of 320. I think having a bitrate filter is really important for a file sharing network, but that's just my opinion. I would like to know what the community thinks. Hopefully if the votes are in favor then maybe a bitrate filter will be integrated in a following release. Thanks for taking your time to vote.

I think that server doesn't hold such info. Besides, amule already support user-generated rating and comments.

Hi Incarnadine,
lfroen is correct, the server does not hold that information. Not to mention that in a serverless environment (Kad) you would need to change the protocol to support it in each client. Have you seen any implementation of this somewhere?
Cheers!

would be really good if there were bitrate/codec columns in the search tab then being able to do file filtering after the initial network search.
tip*
try getting verified scene files (archived albums with nfo's and proper bitrate info).
never get single mp3's through ed2k, too many fake or corrupt ones ..

i think you are wrong, emule fetches a lot of metadata (artist, track, bitrate, length etc) from the servers
-
Yeah, phoenix and lfroen are wrong there, the servers DO keep such info.
-
Interesting, does it mean that server also index all those metadata?
-
well, you can even filter the searches serverside by them so yes.

Yes. If you look into the P2P filesharing programs Ares or FrostWire you will see a bitrate filter in both clients. So this all depends on the EDonkey server and not the client? That sucks!
-
A general ability to filter by metadata (artist, title, bitrate, etc.) would be cool.
Actually, the ability to search by metadata would be even better, but I'm not sure if the ed2k protocol is capable of it.

on ubuntu i am going back to emule in a windows virtual machine because of this missing feature
