Title: Categories for friends
Post by: de_ckill on August 15, 2012, 05:24:14 PM
The longer I use aMule the more users I add to my list of friends. Due to the fact that alot of users just use the standard name there are alot of  users with name "www.aMule.org" or something like that. With a long list of added friends there's no way to find out who is a good friend or just temporarily or  other kind of interest.

Is it possible to have categories for friends like it is used for files? Or at least have an underlying color or an additional field to categorize users?

Why would you ask someone with a nondescript username to your list of friends?
If you chat with him just ask him to change his nick to something more outstanding.

..........

1. My friendslot is often in use
2. Instead of searching files I look to my friends filelists
3. If you ever tried to talk with 6 different languages, you really prefer to know which person you talk to BEFORE writing the first word)))

Isn't that a point for a non-generic name?

Nope.

That's just one of the reasons why I ask for friend categories.

I have no answer why most of the users didn't change the generic name. Just from my point of view it would be helpful to categorize the users in my friends list at least by their collectibles. I didn't chat to all of them, and also I don't like to ask "hey you have a great list, would you please change your name" . ;) If they like their generic name - why not.

We could allow renaming them. But I don't know if its worth the effort. Looks like another "feature for a single user" to me.  :-\
