Hello,

I installed aMule 2.1.2 on my Gui-less linux box running gentoo. Amule itself works like a charm and the web interface is working perfectly.

However, I can't connect remotely (on my desktop gentoo box to my server gui-less gentoo box running the amule daemon) to amule using amulegui. Somehow I can't make a connection, amulegui just says running main loop without ever showing a window. If I try to connect remotely using amulecmd I can't connect either from the desktop, it exits witrh the message 'Connection Failed. Unable to connect to the specified host'

If I run amulecmd on the box itself running the amule deamon, there is no problem.

Don't bother suggesting I have a firewall blocking something or anything. The box running amuled, the server, functions as my gateway/router, and I run no firewalls anywhere, except the server some IPtables based rules which allows unhindered access locally.

Well, your problem is shown in the last 2 lines of your post: aMuleGUI must be the same version as amuled!

Compile the whole package in one go, or download the correct GUI version in case you want to use a different OS'es, and your problem should be solved.

excellent, that worked. It was kind of silly no message whatsoever appeared to inform me of the conflicting versions. And from a code standpoint it should be a nobrainer.
