aMule not communicating with server
« on: May 14, 2007, 08:43:59 AM »

I had been using aMule 2.1.3 on my Suse 10.1 without any problem for several months. Yesterday, due to a power cut, my system crashed. When it started back up, everything was OK, but aMule does not work anymore. I cannot search  and there are no uploads or downloads happening. The status shows me as connected to an ED2K server with a high ID. KAD is firewalled. But that is OK since I use ED2K
exclusively. The number of clients is 0. At startup there might be some activity for some seconds  (i.e. a client connects and tries to download from me). But soon disconnects and after that the number of clients on queue is always 0. After this search also does not work
anymore. i.e. No results are returned.
Then I uninstalled the rpm and reinstalled it. I also cleared the temp directory. This removed the partially downloaded files. I then started aMule and refreshed the shared files list. But the problem did not go
away. It is stuck but not hung.  There is nothing abnormal in the log file as well.

If you create a new user, reconfigure aMule (from scratch, not copying and pasting old configuration) and put your temp/shared files there, does the problem persist? this would test if the problem is the configuration of aMule (some corrupted file maybe) or the program itself (or maybe something else).

Regards.
