Port Forwarding with Billion 7300g
« on: October 31, 2007, 04:27:34 PM »

Hi

A severe storm knocked out all the settings in my modem. I've got my internet connection back, but in regards to aMule I can't remember how to configure my modem for port forwarding to get high ID again. I know I'm supposed to enter the three port numbers (ie 4662, 4672 & 4665), but I'm fuzzy on where exactly I enter them in the modem settings. I've  looked at the example on www.PortForward.com (I chose the Billion 7300a as the modem and eMule as the client since that's the closest - virtually identical), but I know I still haven't done it right because I'm still stuck on the yellow arrows so I'm still firewalled.

What I entered in to my modem settings is this:

I went in to 'Virtual Server' (under 'Configuration) and clicked on 'add'. Then I went to 'Protocal' and changed it to 'Both'. I entered 4662 for the 'Public Start Port', 4672 for the 'Public End Port', 192.168.1.136 (computer's static IP address) for the 'Mapped Private IP Address' and finally 4665 for the 'Mapped Private Port'. Then I applied the changes, saved the new settings to flash and restarted the modem. So did I do it correctly or have I not understood the example?

Please help. Thanks.

You have to add two port mappings:
Protocol: TCP
Public Start Port: 4662
Public End Port: 4662
Mapped Private IP address: 192.168.1.136
Mapped Private Port: 4662

and

Protocol: UDP
Public Start Port: 4672
Public End Port: 4672
Mapped Private IP address: 192.168.1.136
Mapped Private Port: 4672

You don't have to forward port 4665 as that's only used for outgoing traffic.
