Have you opened Firewall on your Mac by going to System Preferences/Sharing/Firewall?
Is Azureus box checked here?
If you go to Edit, what numbers appear in "TCP Port Number(s)' and UDP Port Number(s)'?

Have you also opened Firewall in your router?
Can you go to  (or equivalent of) Firewall/Special Applications?
Do you have both a trigger and public port for TCP set with the same port number as the TCP port number opened in the Mac Firewall?
Do you also have both a trigger and public port for UDP set with the same port number as the UDP port number opened in the Mac Firewall?
Are the trigger and public ports in your router Firewall enabled?

Can you also go to (or equivalent of) Firewall/Virtual Servers?
Does the LAN IP address shown there match the LAN IP address of your computer
Does the 'Protocol Type' column show 'TCP' and 'UDP'', each with their respective LAN Port and Public Port numbers?

Do all the numbers above agree with those in aMule/Preferences/Connection in the boxes entitled
Standard client TCP Port
Extended client UDP Port
UDP Port for extended server requests (TCP +3)

Are you connected on either the ED2k or Kademlia networks and are both of these boxes checked in aMule/Preferences/Connection?

Whoops sorry. I meant aMule box. Indeed, wherever I mentioned Azureus, I meant aMule. I apologise for this confusion. I was looking at two different forums at the same time.

yes the amule box is checked; i had to add it as it wasn't in the list of firewalls. i wrote 4662 in the tcp port and 4672 in the ucp port.

i followed the instruction on AMULE for setting up the router. nothing happened. i still have low iD

1) Try adding '4665,' to the udp port setting so that it reads '4665, 4672'. Save this change, quit aMule, leave it for a few minutes and then relaunch the program.
Please note that ports 4662, 4665 and 4672 are theoretically in the public port range. aMule appears to come configured with those default value ports. I started using aMule with these ports numbers, got it working perfectly, and then switched to much higher port numbers in the 50,o00 range.
2) Ensure that these port numbers for TCP and UDP match exactly those set in both aMule itself in Preferences/Connections (and that both the ED2K and Kademila boxes are checked here
3) Ensure too that these port numbers for TCP and UDP are matched exactly in your router firewall settings. I turned UPnP off, and forwarded all the ports manually.

Let me know how you get on. I will try and keep an eye on this topic during the course of this afternoon (from Spain.)

Three more questions I would add to the above.

You say that you have low ID. In the main aMule window, are both the arrows red, or is one yellow, orange or green, and the other red? The lower of the two arrows, I believe, reports the status of the ED2K connection, and the upper of the two arrows the status of the Kademlia connection.

Returning to System Preferences/Sharing/Firewall on your Mac, does the button underneath 'Firewall On' show 'Stop' or 'Start'? Mine shows 'Start'.

In System Preferences/Sharing/Services on your Mac, do you have 'Personal File Sharing' checked?
