can't find downloaded files
« on: May 29, 2005, 11:01:14 AM »

Hi all! I have a problem: when a file is complete, I can't find it neither in the directory I set for downloaded files (a directory write allow for all users) nor with the find gnome function. Any idea?

EDIT: The temp dir has allowed writing for all users too, but files inside have limited write permissions for root. I think this is the problem. How can I change this? I can't change each file with chmod.. it's not very likeable :/

have you tryed the search function?!

in terminal type

find / -name "blabla"

this should find it...and then maybe check why its in that directory and not the one you setup,

btw for new settings to take effekt you have to restart amule first, so the default would be in
.aMule in the users homedir who runs amule, but its a hidden directory, so maybe check there aswell ;)

I tried to search, but no results :/ eMule places files in the dir I set up, so I don't think this is the problem. I think eMule can''t write in temp files, cause they don't have writing privileges. I just can't find out how to set these files writeable without having to it manually with chmod (the dir itself, anyway, has write privileges).

yeah aMule sorry, typo :D

I think it can't write files, cause each file is 0 bit long. More then this, there are not complete files (such as jpeg, mpeg, pdf ecc ecc) in the Temp dir

ok well if the file is already created its fine, since the 0 size commes from teh part that if downloaded less tehn 9,98mb from the file....
and amule would also scream at you in the start-log if it cannot read/write a file.

the finished files go into anohter directory. so your jpeg mpeg and so on, are usually NOT in the temp dir.

when you look at the downlods tab, are teh files which are completed still in the list with a green-bar, or are tehy gone from teh list when you click -> clear finished files
