Lost High ID status after changing settings
« on: August 06, 2008, 05:06:00 PM »

I decided to change some of aMule's settings to see if I could get a faster internet experience as normally when I have aMule running my web browsing grinds to a halt. So after reading the aMule FAQ Entry - "aMule makes everything slow" I changed my 'Hard Limit' setting from 300 to 150, 'Max Connections' from 500 to 250. Then I went to 'Core Tweeks' and changed 'Max new connections / 5 sec' from 20 to 10 (despite the large red WARNING message not to change the settings unless you know what you are doing) in the hope this would speed up webpage loading. Well it didn't seem to make any difference so I changed everything back only now I've lost my high ID status so it seems my fiddling about (especially with 'Core Tweeks') has somehow wiped my high ID status even though I changed the settings back to the original settings. Any idea how I can get my high ID status back without having to endure months of slow downloading before I eventually earn it back? Surely changing a few connection settings shouldn't wipe high ID status?

The highID status has nothing to do with any of these settings. it also has nothing to do with you downloading many months and then just "earning" the highID status. It only has to do with your ports are open for aMule to receive incoming connections. Regarding your "aMule is slow" issue, try setting the max conn/5 sec to 5 or 6, that's the higher value my router can take, maybe yours is the same.

Regards.
