how does search work?
« on: March 13, 2004, 02:31:36 AM »

My problem is: I want to search for files with '5-6-7-8' (or similar) in their names. But whatever I try (5-6-7-8, 5.6.7.8, '5-6-7-8') I always get hundreds of files which have any of those numbers in thier name (like lots of 'download*manynumbers*.dat' because somebody shared thier Kazaa-Temp). But I actually want the _exact_ string '5-6-7-8'. Or something like 5anychar6anychar7anychar8 would even be better.
So how do I get amule to search for the exact string like I put in the search-field? Is there any regular-expression kind of stuff available in the search? And how does search work in general: If I search for 'word1 word2' does it look for 'word1 AND word2' or 'word1 OR word2' or even something different?

P.S. I also tried "5-6-7-8" but it didn't give any results. And I checked it with "porno" which gave no results either, so it really searches for the ' " '.

P.P.S. The amulecmd here doesn't work correctly. The pausse n/stop n/resume n commands do either nothing or affect some random file. Is this a common problem or only me? (I'm using thermomans Debian Woody build of amule 1.2.6)

As for the amulecmd - i'm still using 1.2.5 and I just thought that this bug might have been solved in 1.2.6 ... but looks like for me ther's no point in upgrading as i'm only using the textclient (amule is working on a workstation with only 2 cables connected - power and LAN .... not even a monitor or a keyboard)

It's not like the pause and resume are affecting a random file. It's just that numbers shown using "Show DL" command DO NOT match the numbers used in the pasue/resume commands.... You may note that if you have several completed downloads, the numbers in Pause/Resume commands can go only up to the number of ACTIVE downloads ... and nobody noticed the fact that the completed downloads appear on the list EXACTLY WHERE THEY WERE when they were being downloaded, meaning the numbers just can't match....

To put it in other way - once numeration used in "Show DL" command will match the numeration used in "Pause" and "Resume" commans, everything will be fine.

Well when I tried finding a pattern between the number given to pause/resume and the file affected I typed eg 'resume 10' stopped the file that got resumed and did the same thing again for several times. And every time a different file got resumed (or sometimes none at all).
So it's not just that the number in 'show DL' do not match the internal numbers but it seems do be really random (or the internal numers get reordered when a file is resumed/pause).

weird....

what I did was :

run amulecmd (like I said, amule version is 1.2.5), Show DL, then try pausing a random download, then check if anything has been paused at all, and then resuming it. Then pausing it again, shutting down amulecmd, running amulecmd again and trying to resume the file using the same number as before. And it worked. (Not that it helped at all, but ...)

Still, some numbers would have no effect on the list, no matter if i used pause or resume. (and no, i didn't get the Out of range error)

?( either the amulecmd gets more buggy with each release (or feature-rich as micro$oft would call it  :] ) or something is really wrong here.

edit: corrected some typos
