NOT remember all files ever downloaded
« on: May 22, 2007, 10:04:35 PM »

Hello,

Is it possible to not remember all files ever downloaded ?
For example to only store the shared files.
Or to choose the files to suppress from the known*.met files ?

So that another user of amule on the same computer can't know that a file was downloaded or canceled...

Thanks.

NB : there is another thread on that subject : http://forum.amule.org/index.php?topic=10733.0

Another user would have another username, which means he would have another known.met file. There is no need for your request.

Regards.

Hi ecforum,

Just delete the known.met from time to time. You can write a script to do this every time before starting aMule as well.

Or better after shutdown of aMule

alias amule="amule <maybe startup-flag> && rm ~/.aMule/know.met"

Hello,

Thanks for the answers.

Yes... If another person use my login then I have this small problem.

Yes I can delete de known files but I will lose all the interesting informations. I would like to delete some files only...

Can I delete the known files if downloads are not finished (and parts are shared) ?

We're again on the "anotehr person uses my account" issue.

That person has access to your amule config, to your amule temp folder, to your amule incoming, to everything in your hard disk that you have access too, and you're worried about known.met? Please.

I don't say that it is a fondamental request...

If a file was donwloaded and then deleted that "basic" end-user will see it as green filename in its search's results... Without the color he can't know that the file was downloaded...

I have a solution but it is not the best one... ;)

Thanks.

If you can program, maybe you could write a little program that lets editing the known.met file. It should not be too hard to do. However, I agree with Kry's point of view.
