Little modifications...
« on: July 14, 2007, 08:33:36 PM »

Hi!

I would like to post some suggestions :)

First of all it would be nice to have a wizard one the first run of aMule which lets you configure tehese things:
ports, name,  browser, media player, incoming directory

Secondly a better icon set, would be fine, what I mean is that some icons in the menu aren't beautiful ;)

Thirdly it would be great to have themes by default, because I didn't find themes.

The last thing is a better display when not running in full screen, when you set to fullscreen and minimize, there is no difference in size.
It would be great that if you aren't in full mode you have a disposition which is completely usable, try out yourself to use aMule in a smaller windows :)

Ow I also forgot this: have the ability to change the menu size and mode: small, large icons, text, text with large icons or text with small icons!

Thanks to read :)

P.S.: When is the new release planned?
CVS is not always stable hehe :p

Hi elwario91,

Your suggestions sound reasonable and have a high chance of being implemented. (Feel free to bug me personally if something is missing.)

Some remarks/questions:
2. There's skin/icon change support in recent CVS versions.

3. What do you mean when talking about "themes"? If we think about the same thing, then this is a thing set by the system/gui toolkit, not the application. On GTK2 you can use "switch2" to change the theme.

4. I don't understand the first sentence. Maximized is as the name indicates the biggest possible window size and minimized a freely resizeable size. This might be very small, the same size as maximized and even bigger than maximized. This is administered by the window manager, not the application.

I agree with the second sentence, above all the preferences dialog is not usable on small screens. (buttons are off-screen.)

The next release is planned for the end of mai 2007. ;) Seriously, I expect a release as soon as Kry is less busy and manages to finish Protocol Obfuscation UDP.

3 -> I mean "skin" sorry :)
4 -> Sorry for my English, I mean when you hit on maximize then it's full screen and when you hit again it is what I was talking about :p
It would be awesome to have other dimensions in that mode to be more useable :)

For the protocol, it's a great idea, I know some linux users in real who had problems with free and had to shiwth to emule  8)

P.S.: I see ArchLinux, if you're using it: Pacman Powaa (or Yaourt)  ;D

Here you go:

http://bugs.amule.org/view.php?id=1142
http://bugs.amule.org/view.php?id=1143
http://bugs.amule.org/view.php?id=1144

I'll see what I'll implement before the release of 2.2.0 (which, of course, will be soon[tm]), currently I try to fix whatever might be broken (like Mac compilation, unfortunately with a broken cross compiler and without an actual mac and therefore no way to test, darwin is the next course of action...) instead of implementing new features.

And yes, I'm using Arch. It's just so much more flexible and less complicated than e.g. Debian, always up-to-date and really light-weight and resourcefriendly. Love it.
