Hi,

here's an explanation, which should help you a bit: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/ZyXEL/P-330w/eMule.htm
The aMule standard ports are 4662TCP, 4665UDP and 4672UDP.

Did you even read the link that wuischke gave you? it seems everything is very clear there, since eMule and aMule are very similar, even the options mentioned in the tutorial are in the same places in both programs. Read the tutorial and try it, if something is not clear, ask us, but we will not do your homework.

Regards.

Thank you for your help, It doesn't work because I don't have DNS server numbers, and when I call the company they said that it will only work if I choose the "using DHCP" option and I need to configure it manually. Thanks. I apprecciate any help

Use  dhcp for a while and try this command:

host -v www.google.com

the output should display the ip address of your dns server.

That's what you were looking for.

doesn't matter what's the ips used by google but something like "Received 100 bytes from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the ip addrerss used by your dbs server.
if we're talking about mac os x, open /etc/resolv.conf and search a line starting with "nameserver".

when I call the company they said that it will only work if I choose the "using DHCP" option and I need to configure it manually.

What has your ISP connection to do with your local setup? Your modem/router/whatever get's a dynamic IP from your ISP. That's something like DHCP. From your router to your Desktop, you can use DHCP, static DHCP or static IP's without DHCP, and that's where you have to forward the ports. If you use the first option it's sometimes possible to let the router forward the ports to the a specific machine after it got the IP. For the other both you can setup static forwarding.

Received 82 bytes from 192.168.1.1#53 in 59 ms I guess that one is the number, I tried with that one but amule still gives me low id, I have mac osx but I don't see anything with nameserver.

An IP Address of 192.168.0.1 is standard default for a Mac using DHCP (or is it ...0.0?)- it means your modem is on a dynamic setting thru a router - my guess is that 192.168.1.1 is just a varation on the same theme.  With my DSL system, punching in http://192.168.0.1 in the web browser automtically takes me to my ISP's modem setup web page.  From there I can set up can calibrate my modem to have a static IP and set up port forwarding in their "Advanced Settings" tab.

Your ISP provider should be able to walk you through it - it's just a matter of re-assigning a few numbers and telling the modem to match them.  If you customer service rep tells you to just stick to dynamic DHCP, tell him to put his Daddy on the phone to help you out!

You should end up with an address more similar to the Google numbers, like 209.85.139.9  With over 4 billion addressing possibilities, there's plenty available.

192.168.1.1 is an ip address of a C class private network (the operating system is not involved).

Assuming that we're talking about a small private network with an ADSL router, 192.168.1.1 - in this specific case - is the lan-side interface address of the router.

In this case, the device provides several services such as maintenance through telnet and/or http, dhcp and dns (local).

In a nutshell:

192.168.1.1  ... is the default gateway
192.168.1.1  ...is the management ip
192.168.1.1  ...is the dns server

...all in one

ok I tried configuring it and now safari works, but amule still said it is firewalled, could it be a problem with the configuration of the mac firewall?

Obviously, turn your own firewall off in the OSX  "sharing"  preferences...

Speaking of 'Sharing';  does "Internet Sharing" need to be turned ON, or does that open the door for hacking?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just finished talking to my ISP, and setting up a static TCP couldn't be more simple!

If your 'automatic' DHCP router number is the basic 192.168.1.1 , then you should Manually assign any static IP that uses the same first three digits, such as 192.168.1.57 - the only hitch is that you cannot use #1 (router) and #255 - but anything in between.

Your DNS web server addresses are a different matter - you'll probably need to contact your ISP for those two sets of numbers.
