Hey, I'm back to "Low ID."
« on: July 24, 2007, 01:42:48 AM »

Hmm.  I had high ID, and now I have low ID.  Not sure what caused that, but  I'll start all over again.

BTW, why is kad sometimes not connected, while the others are connected?

I'm stuck in the port forwarding process . . .
« Reply #1 on: July 24, 2007, 02:21:38 AM »

I got my static IP address and logged into my router.

The next two steps are to:

1.  "Click the Advanced link near the left side of the page."

2.  "You should now see a new menu. In this new menu, click Virtual Servers."

--------

That's the problem.  I don't see the advanced link or the virtual servers.  What should I do?

(HELP.)

Maybe look all over the configuration to see where might it be. Maybe it was renamed to something else, like "port forwarding" or something like that.

Regards.

Skol,

Are you being sarcastic?  Well, you may be an expert in this, but I'm not.

I'm following the port forwarding process, but since the port forwarding process itself is geared to PCs, then it's hard for a rookie  AND a mac-user to follow all those steps.

Now try something helpful, will you?  I'm stuck.

He's not being sarcastic. He's actually being quite helpful.

Would you mind showing us some screenshots of your router model? Or to give us the exact router model?

This would make it easier for us to help you.

Nope, no sarcasm at all. That's just what I would do. However, it's pretty hard to diagnose an illness when all the pacient says is "doctor, it hurts" but he gives no more details. Do what wuischke said. Reading your instruction manual of the router might also help.

Regards.

Here's the exact router model - Versalink-327W.

We're in the midst of moving, so I won't find the manual for another few months.

Sorry I thought you were just being sarcastic.  Thanks for your help.

I guess you didn't googled at all to find this answer on your own, since I found it in about 2 minutes:

Now, now, Skol.  You're periously close to sarcasm.  (smile)

Actually, it never occurred to me to search for my versalink.  Didn't think it was possible.

Also, for some reason while the TCP specs were entered, the UDP specs were not entered, since there was no option to do so.  After the TCP step of clicking close, the message prompted me that I "should" see another box to set up the UDP.  But after I clicked close, UDP was nowhere in sight.

If you have a tip for that, let me know, and I'll redo the port forwarding setup.

Thanks, again.

yep, that reply was made in a hurry, and while I was disappointed because you did not tried to solve your problem. You just relied on our help, and that's not good IMHO. I see the tutorial, and everything seems clear to me. Your router allows to forward ports and select if they should be TCP or UDP, and that's just what aMule needs, I don't see the problem. The tutorial is not 100% complete, there are some steps that should be assumed. If you configure TCP, UDP is the same, just choose the UDP checkbox instead of TCP where you type the port number.

Regards.
