Disconnecting
« on: November 11, 2007, 11:13:28 AM »

Hi All,

Linux Debian 4
aMule 2.1.3

Sinse a week o so I suddenly cannot connect to any server anymore.
Trying to download a new list fail to, see the top part of the aMule log.

Below that is an other part of the log from aMule.
Strange because yesterday I had :
1 Connecting
2 Connected
3 Lost Connection
Now the "Connected" part is gone too.
Suggestions are appreciated

Edmund

Servers: Trying to connect Connection lost
« Reply #1 on: November 13, 2007, 08:11:20 AM »

I use Ubuntu Gutsy 2.6.22-14-generic x86_64 and aMule 2.1.3 using wxGTK2 v2.8.4 (Unicoded). It seems it has problems making network connections.

When I try to download the server.met file by pressing the button at the left of the field it crashes! So I downloaded the server.met file separately, but it fails to connect to most of the servers. There are a lot of Servers: Trying to connect / Connection lost messages, please see below.

I also downloaded a nodes.dat file but the number of kad nodes gradually dropped to 2 (and it sais "Kad: off").

Any idea what could be wrong? Thanks!

I also have  disconnections problems.

I'm on Archlinux using kernel 2.6.23 and gcc 4.2.2,  aMule-CVS-20071112 (had this problem with other cvs also, last one was 20071105) manually compiled with wxgtk 2.8.6-1.

I usually run amuled alone, and i check wheter it is connected to a ed2k server or not from time to time, whenever i see it 'trying to connect', the only way to get it to reconnect is to open amulegui and manually trying some servers until it finally connects to one of them.

Kad its a different matter, it just disconnects and wont reconnect again until i restart amuled.

I post some lines from amuled log (the messages have been translated from spanish, might not match with those of the english version though ;) )
Code: [Select]

Hm, in your case the error message looks a bit different, it times out! In our case the connection is just "lost", whatever that means, because it doesn't say that it managed to connect.

I don't know what to believe about an application that cannot even make network connections but.. I'll know what I'll serve next, with a nice glass of wine..

I also have  disconnections problems.

Plesase, use aMule 2.20 CVS for Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon

I don't know what to believe about an application that cannot even make network connections but..

I know what to think about an user that can't make such a basic network application run properly and pretends it's the application's fault.

So you are saying it is my fault? I think you are funny. I did not say that.
The application is supposed to download a file and it crashes. To me it seems this is a bug because it would have expected a message explaining that there is a problem and maybe saying what the problem is (so it can be fixed), but the application crashed.

Festor, I'll post the results after I try the cvs version!

Well, it's a bug on wxWidgets. Not on aMule. Not much we can do about that.

It's up to you to think that, but a simple search on the forum shows that this exact bug has been discused one million times and it's a bug on wxWidgets. So yeah, if noone is going to bother reading previous posts, maybe it's a good idea to shut down the forum.

Yes, and sometimes both. :P
