install error curl
« on: March 23, 2004, 11:13:03 PM »

Hi,

I use Mandrake 9.2 for more than 2 weeks now, and was hoping to install aMule (looks like a great program). After some newbie problems installing GTK/wxGTK etc I tried installing aMule.
It stops because curl-config is not found. I tried urpmi curl but -> Everything already installed

Any ideas?

Tia Theo

Apparently there is a curl-devel that you need to install

Thx, I installed the -devel pack, and indeed I came a bit further. But it still doesnt work.
Looks like there still some trouble with wxGTK:

This is a part of my listing:

Configure script has finished system check.

hey

did you install all 3 packages from our webspace? you need wxgtk wxgtk-devel and wxbase.
I think you are missing wxgtk-devel, and also please don't forget to set up the two links like discribed in the "how to" on our page

I thought I had installed all packages, but maybe the versions are not correct.
What should I do next? Uninstall all packages with rpm -e?

Please advise, i uninstalled gtk (and all depended files) 2 days ago and that was a big (newbie)mistake. I don't want to do something like that again.

This are the messages I get, when I try to install all the needed software.

remove your mandrake wx packages, (as a matter of fact, remove all your wx packages) and then reinstall the ones on amule webpage.

Yes, at last!!

aMule is installed.   Thx for the very clear help. I've learned a lot, sorry that it had to be aMule to start my linux-adventure.  http://www.amule.org/amule/images/bunfirlite/smilies/tongue.gif

Now I have to get the server connected and after that, ed2k.. (hope this will not take 2 days. http://www.amule.org/amule/images/bunfirlite/smilies/biggrin.gif )
