lfroen's position on loving scam sites.

A friendly reminder: aMule is free software. DON'T PAY FOR IT!

A highly misleading remainder, I must say. You must be also saying "Don't buy RedHat, Linux is free sotware".

Quote
There is no reason to pay for aMule, we distribute this software for free.
We distribute source code, useless to any non-technical user.

I know of at least one web site which sells an aMule download (offering aMule 2.2.1, which is scary) "premium service" from "a high-speed server" for a 6€ phone call. The GPL allows this and they sell a download service, so no problem.

I just don't want anyone to come here and demand support after having paid for downloading aMule. We offer free binaries for Windows and Mac OS X, but no guaranteed support. Also, there are generally user contributed packages for those free operating system which do not include the latest version of aMule by default.

lfroen, if you want to discuss economics related to Open Source or the distribution of binary packages along with aMule, please do so in the appropriate section, but do not use the news announcement section. Thank you.

I could not care less for all the crap people doing with aMule. And you bitching about "scam sites" are waste of space on forum server.
If someone points out to uselessness of your post it's not necessary "nonsense inside".

Nonsense inside, this time for real:

As stated in the pm: Wasn't me. Forget about the "anyway" part - there's no need to ask anymore.

Anyway: Sorry, this part of the post was just a fancy way of saying: If you're stupid enough to fall for a scam, don't come to us, we won't help you.

Plus, I really would like to see the 2.2.1 binaries for which they are offering a download service.
