Hi There, thanks for replying.
"your previous post suggests that you haven't even tried to change the default ports in case your ISP is filtering them"
It's true, I haven't done that yet. I had no idea that was something to try. I figured that there was a good reason that the default ports are what they are and being a newbie I never thought to mess with them. You've got 5 stars next to your name so I guess you have some expertise in this area.
Just so that we're on the same page, I understand that the default ports that you are referring to are 4662,4665 and 4672. Does it matter what I change them to? For example, is it important that they are of the form x,x+3, x+10?
"We don't know your firmware setup, we don't know your router setup other than you tried to open the ports and the router seems to say it's ok. There's no way we can help you without more information."
I don't know what my firmware setup is either. As a matter of fact, I don't even know what firmware is. Do you mean my router?
Here are some details that may be of use:
I installed aMule on my Mac running under MacOS 10.4.
My internet service is through my private phone line at home (AT&T).
My router is made by 2Wire with model number 2701 HG-B.
There are firewall settings in my router menu, but I don't have any other firewall software installed on my computer.
I have no idea if my ISP (I guess that's AT&T) is "filtering" ports, nor do I know how to find that out.
"Additionally: You posted about it, then less than 2 hours later decided you weren't getting an answer. "
That's simply not true, but I get your point.
"Please have some patience because the people helping here are volunteers that have a life."
Will do.
