UPnP
« on: February 18, 2009, 10:01:52 AM »

I don't seem to be able to enable UPnP in aMule. The UPnP option under Preferences>Connection is grayed out with no possibility of enabling it. I don't think it's a problem with my system (Windows XP) or router because other UPnP programs are working fine.

The UPnP documentation in the Wiki states that  "To use uPnP, you will need to install an external library, libupnp."  Where do I find that library for Windows and how do I install it?

Sigh...
Well, I sure wasted a lot of time trying to get it to work then.

I wish someone would change the documentation to indicate which features are unsupported under Windows. I tried to update the UPnP entry in the Wiki but I apparently don't have permission to do so.

I've changed this now, thank you for the report. Do you have an account for the wiki? Only registered users are allowed to post, because we had big problems with spam. :(

It should not be difficult to make UPnP work on windows, libupnp is supposed to run on win32 systems. I have never done that myself for the lack of a windows system, but it is certainly doable.

I've looked at libupnp, but I couldn't even load the included MSVC project file.
That's probably why eMule is using miniupnp.
