amule crash on OSX 10.5.8
« on: September 24, 2009, 06:39:02 PM »

Hi im new here. These few days I have encountered a very serious problem with my amule.

I have been using amule for a few months now and it worked fine, but suddenly it crashes everytime i tried to download anything. uploading is fine but everytime a download starts, it crashes with a minute or so, and that is only when i did a fresh install. I deleted all the amule files in application support, then installed amule again, but it still crashes during downloads. repeated efforts to relaunch amule gives an error message when connecting and the application just quits.

I have installed it x times but to no avail. the error message is as below. :(

According to the crashlog aMule seems to crash while adding a (possibly corrupt) link from /Users/Libo/Library/Application Support/aMule/ED2KLinks. However, you stated that you deleted all files there - :-\

I'd like to have that file if it is still there, so I can investigate. So please just rename it.

Hi,

well i cant find the file but this is the only stuff im downloading before amule crashed:

wuischke: link sent to Stu Redman

is it only because of the bad ed2k address that caused this? just to be curious, why does amule crashes when it encounters a bad ed2k  link?

*i just remembered smth, not sure whether it is helpful, but after amule crashed, i could still start it, and it comes out nice and proper, only to crash when it is connecting.

thanks alot for your hel :)p!

Cool! I can actually reproduce it.  :)
It's a link with Chinese characters. I'll investigate.

Fixed in 9827. Both the crash on trying to convert two Chinese characters into a file length, and the reason why this happened in the first place. The link works now. (I masked it up to be unusable and unrecognizable, at least for people incapable of Chinese.)

Code: [Select]
ed2k://|file|%5B%E8%AE%A1%E7%AE%97%E6%9C%BA%E5%9B%BE%E6%A0%87%E8%AE%BE%E8%AE%A1%2F%E7%BC%96%E8%BE%91%2F%E8%BD%AC%E6%8D%A2%2F%E7%AE%A1%E7%90%86%E5%B7%A5%E5%85%B7%5D.some.readable.name.zip|55555555|d9efffffffffff3b91de4a0d9e5952c9|h=zdpeszzzzzzzzzzhdl67fps7i2gqxe6s|/

The problem were the / between the Chinese chars. Why did aMule treat them as delimiters?  ???

Why did aMule treat them as delimiters?  ???
Because the link gets URLDecode'd too early, probably.

Just remove the chinese stuff (or precisely - the / in between).

Why did aMule treat them as delimiters?  ???
Because the link gets URLDecode'd too early, probably.
No, I mean - why was the tokenizer set up with "|/" instead of plain "|" ?

Probably to separate "link blocks". Most of the logic of aMule is derived from eMule and I guess it was written in eMule this way. (I haven't looked at the actual code, so I'm probably talking non sense again.)
To explain what I mean by "link block". In the following link you see the first part - the actual link - delimited by a "|/" as well as the second part - the sources information - delimited by "|/". You can have multiple of these (for instance hashset, aich) and this has to be parsed properly.

Should still work. The extra fields are examined for known keyword (like "sources"), and the extra field with / is simply ditched.
