High CPU use
« on: July 30, 2004, 11:05:11 AM »

I've got aMule 1.2.8 in SuSE 9.1 and when it's running, it uses the 100% of my CPU (AMD Athlon XP 2800).

As a result, all the system slows down and the CPU heats a lot.

Why is it?
How can I chanche this?

Thanks: jesusrop@hotmail.com

and disable also auto-priority:
This is done by disabling "set all new downloads to auto-priority" on Preferences and by changing all the downloads with "auto" to someting else (either "high" or "normal" or "low". whatever).

Hi,

I posted the same question yesterday - look here http://www.amule.org/amule/thread.php?threadid=3123&sid= :)

Despite the fact I said it had fixed it, when I woke up this morning I found that it had gone back to its old CPU-power eating ways :/

It seems that if I close aMule, it's fine for a while - but it slowly starts using more and more CPU power. If I close it again, the cycle starts over.

Try the ideas mentioned in the thread I linked to - they may work for you.

Hi,

WX_GTK is compiled and installed per the guide on your site, so I'm pretty certain it's not that.

I decided to try the latest stable aMule (2.0.0rc5). It's now been running for almost 5 hours and is showing none of the previous symptoms. The CPU usage has stayed constant (and very low) all the time it's been running. So I'm going to assume it's all fixed. Again :)

Thanks again to everyone who helped. And to everyone else with this problem: upgrading should fix it :)
