Well, after changing from 1.2.8 to 2.0.0rc7 amule crashes on start when logged as normal user. When logged as root it works perfectly. I've read in this same thread an advice to delete the old  amule ond/or emule folders -to discard old configuration files, i guess-. I'm installing on Linux mandrake, and deleting the old aMule folder doesn't help.

have you checked file permissions? surely not ;)
check permissions for ~/.eMule ~/.aMule/ ~/.aMule/* ~/.aMule/Temp/* ~.aMule/Incoming

Also, the configuration file is ~/.eMule.

Permissions are set as Reading and Writing allowed for User and others, without succes: program only finishes loading when logged as root
By the way, where is such /.eMule configuration file? Ican't find It...

Sorry for being so clumsy... I'm an absolut newbie in Linux : )

Solved!!! I didn't know it was a hidden file... rc07 works perfecly now. Thanks!!!
