Help for a newbie (PLEASE!)
« on: November 25, 2004, 12:58:21 AM »

Hi guys,

I'm new to aMule (previously used eDonkey2000) and I'm not exactly sure how all of this works.

With eDonkey all you have to do is do a search and select the files you want to download, but I don't seem to be having the same luck with aMule.

I'm on a cable connection (and I'm using Tiger 10.4 Developer Preview) and I've noticed that the downloads are EXTREMELY slow.

How exactly use aMule? How do I select the right servers? And how do I set up the program to maximize my broadband connection?

Thanks a lot mates!

Indefatiqable, amule is similar to emule which is similar to edonkey... so things shouldn't be too alien to you. I don't know much about amule on tiger but if it is up and running then it shouldn't be much of an issue, I think. Perhaps something in the wiki can get you going properly:

You do know that it takes time to "get going" in terms of downloads as you are on everybody's queue and will have to earn enough credits to move faster down the queue, right? Leaving your mule on for long hours will eventually speed up downloads, depending on what  you are downloading, and what sources are available. For server, why don't you start with razorback.

appart from tchecking te wiki and posting to the right forum (this is not the mac fourm), please take a note that aMule for Mac is still beta development, so it is uder active development, not actually a final release. There are known prolems with conecting to servers in Mac. Please report to the apppropiate forums, as deltaHF asked you to do ;)

Greetings!
