Almost null download speed.
« on: December 01, 2004, 08:36:40 PM »

Hi,

I download the prerelease .dmg three days ago and I have really slow download rates (0.0 to 0.4 kb/s at best). In three days of continuous run I was able to download 10Mb of the archive I was looking for.

I red lot of the FAQ and forums and tried several thing with no results : Change server, Make friends, Increase maximum upload rate, HighID problem, ...  Uploading works with no problem. It looks like my place in the remote queues never decrease and when I'm finally able to download I'm disconnected from the remote client within few seconds and sent back to the end of its queue.

I was previously using Poisoned with no problem at all. Now, I'm new to amule so I might be missing something. Here are my setting just in case it shows something:

Download 150 kB/s
Upload 100 kB/s
Slot Allocation 30
TCP port 4662
UDP port 4672
Mx source per file 300
Mx connections 500

Thanks for any answer,

try setting your ports to something else, maybe your ISP is limitting it (lately, many ISPs are doing so :-( )

also have in mind the stuff about credits. three days is definitely not enough time to have nice downloads in the ed2k network. you normally haev to wait about two weeks. but well, luck plays a big roll here too ;)

about the remote queues, obviously, nothing we can do abou it. about getting disconnected, that's unluckily some clients which do that: they wait, upload few kba nd disconnect. this wait they get credits on you and many ppl. but those clients are leechers and are banned once they are discovered. but well, while they aren't banned, they f*ck around as you can see :-(

finally, have in mind that aMule for mac is still in beta development (allthugh in a quite advanced status already). So any reports are wellcome :) thanks

Greetings!

OK then, I'll wait a bit more if this is normal. I missed that info of a two week average to get a normal download rate.

Thanks for your answer and thanks for making MacMule available.
