aMule 2.0.0rc7 and aMule 2.0.0rc8 Crashing on Startup

All of sudden, aMule starts crashing as soon as I start it.  It used to run fine but for some reason keeps crashing on me now.  I was using aMule 2.0.0rc7 under Debian SID.  Here's the output from the crash:

So I decided to upgrade to the latest rc and I did.  Again, it keeps crashing as soon as it starts up.  Here's the backtrace:

In frustration, I decided to download and install from cvs, but when compiling, I run into the following error:

internal compiler error: Segmentation fault

Any ideas?  Is there a statically compiled version that I could use or something?  Thanks for your time.

I was able to resolve the problem:

"internal compiler error: Segmentation fault"

It turned out that my CPU temperature had gone up to an astounding 120 C because the fan had failed.  So I got a fan and now the temperature is fine and I was able to compile it.  I followed the instructions at http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/Compilation_Installation but to no avail.  Here's the backtrace.  Any ideas?  Thanks for your time.

Yes. You seem to have a pretty consistent crash. Please, follow these instructions and generate a real backtrace:

Please, post the generated backtrace here. We need debug information to trace the exact cause of the crash.

I fixed this on CVS afaik, please remove the ED2KLinks (or something alike) file on our .aMule folder

I decided to give the Debian packages in the Downloads section a shot and they also gave me the same behavior.

Looking at the messages above, I though that it might have something to do with my downloads.  So I renamed my temp directory but to no avail.  It would still crash.  However, I then decided to rename my .aMule directory and suddenly, it was working fine.  It's now working okay.  I'll tell you if I run into any problems.  Thanks for your time.

Again, please read this, compile aMule with debug information and post here a real backtrace, otherwise there is not much we can do:

  As I mentioned in my previous post, I solved the issue by deleting my .aMule folder (actually, I just renamed it).  So now everything is working.  However, I'll try to run it as you mentioned to give you more details on the bug.

Sorry, I did not read the last sentence. But in fact we see that there is a bug. Only you can help us find it. The problem is certainly related to something in your old ~/.aMule dir. So if you have some availability, please try it with debug information and post the backtrace here, so that we can deal with it.

Also, in case you decide to compile it, try a recent CVS tarball. You can get one here:
