'make' compiling Problem
« on: March 04, 2005, 09:52:01 AM »

Currently Runing Suse 9.2
and I've decided to compile Amule from scratch, and this is the story...
1- i needed gtk+- so i went to get it (the latest version) and installed from (and in that order):
    1-ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v2.6/glib-2.6.3.tar.gz
    2-ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v2.6/pango-1.8.0.tar.gz
    3-ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v2.6/atk-1.9.0.tar.gz
    4-ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v2.6/gtk+-2.6.4.tar.gz
2-And went on to compile, wxGTK, wich reported gtk-lib missing, then i read in a forum that only versions 1.2.x of gtk brought gtk-config script AND it wouldn't be a problem to have the two installations.
3- So i went back to gtk ftp server and downloaded+installed gtk 1.2.x (latest):
   1-ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v1.2/glib-1.2.10.tar.gz
   2-ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v1.2/gtk+-1.2.10.tar.gz
4-Afterwards I downloaded and installed the following according to the link "how to from scratch":
   1-http://download.berlios.de/amule/wxGTK-2.4.2.tar.gz
   2-http://download.berlios.de/amule/wxBase-2.4.2.tar.gz
   3-http://download.berlios.de/amule/crypto-5.2.1.tar.bz2
   4-http://www.amule.org/files/download.php?file=40
5-It still warned me that certain functions would be disabled because of wxBase 2.4.x
so went to get the latest 2.5.4 :P
6-I still lacked curl (from the amule configure output) so I went and downloaded curl.
7-Still when i ./configure it warned that it was lacking:

Quote
configure:
WARNING: libpng-devel >= 1.2.0 is needed for amuleweb

checking for gdlib-config... /usr/bin/gdlib-config
checking for gdlib version >= 2.0.0... yes (version 2.0.2Cool
checking for gd.h... (cached) no
configure:
WARNING: gd-lib >= 2.0.0, or a functional gd.h (from gd-devel) not found.
gd-lib is needed for fully funtional cas. If you don't have gd-lib,
cas will be compiled, but you won't be able to create that cool
status image (text mode however will work).
so then again i went on and downloaded gd-lib.
8- and now I still have the same problem has before (without download and installing glib):
   1-configure output
   2-make output
   3-forum req output

heho please post

ls -l /usr/local/bin/wx*
and also
ls -l /usr/bin/wx*

stefanero

btw: all the stuff you compiled would have been on your suse cds ;) so a simple search in the yast-package system would have saved you a lot of trouble

heh ok :)

1.st
rm /usr/bin/wxbase-config
rm  /usr/bin/wx-config

2nd
rm /usr/local/bin/wxbase-2.4-config
rm /usr/local/bin/wxgtk-2.4-config

then
make clean && ./configure.... and so on....

stefanero

about the CD, you can add a ftp link to your xast sources,
then you always have the cds...

well i need a little more help here, I've done what you said, and re-installed everything with some minor changes,
1- wxGTK-2.5.4 & wxBASE-2.5.
and the output was the same... :S
am I missing something *again* ?

I tryed to add the ftp to yast software source media, but wichever link i added (http://ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.2/ and any of the directories inside) it reported an error:
Quote
Unable to create installation source from url 'ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.2/'
Details:
ERROR(InstSrc:E_no_instsrc_on_media)

hmm NO wxBase, for 2.5..... the way you did it first with only 2.5.4 and wxGTK was fine...

do this:
http://www.amule.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_uninstall_wxWidgets

to make sure everything old is removed again, then recompile wxGTK-2.5.4 and then try reinstall

and do a
make distclean && ./autogen before you run configure, that should reset all files in the tarball, or take a clean one

I will!
well i tryed also compiling xmule, and on the make he reported the same problem, so I mist assume that i have something rong with wx installations. So i went to download wxAll-2.5.4.tar.gz :D just in case... (wxWidgets...)
i shure hope it works fine now :)
