i know this may seem trivial but im a graphic designer and spent a lot of time making my own gnome themes and it bugs me seeing the text document icon on amule in the task bar.  This is probably not a difficult change which has been overlooked

Icon is already included in the distribution. (by the way, I prefer the old xmule one taken for emule than the new amule one). It is just a matter of setting your desktop to choose it. I have already done it in my WIndowMaker. Should not be that difficult on Gnome or KDE...

This is not a matter of window manager or desktop - the application has means to define its icon (setting property on the toplevel window to the icon pixmap) - no reason not to do it...(maybe this interface is missing is wxWindows ?)
