aMule best configuration
« on: July 31, 2005, 10:50:35 PM »

I read quite a lot of documentation on amule, but still I'll ask you for help to configure amule to download at it's maximum speed.
Here are mine preferences:

http://mandrakeprinas.org/galerija/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=10201&pos=1
http://mandrakeprinas.org/galerija/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=10201&pos=2
http://mandrakeprinas.org/galerija/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=10201&pos=3

Here are pictures of my prefrences. I have 2400 processsor and 512 RAM. So how do I set these values the way it will increase my download to the maximum speed?

First of all: Update your aMule to 2.0.3 or CVS! It's totally outdated!
You should decrease your maximum connections, I don't think, that your connection allows that. In Germany it's limited to 1200 by the most providers. I think 500 would be enough. [Don't affects speed]
The hardlimit depends on the number of sources you have. To maximize speed you should set your hardlimit the way, that you'll get around 8000 overall sources.
You should active Safe Connect and Smart LowID-Check.
SourceDropping should be not needed, aMule should exchange notneeded sources automaticly and dropping would just increase Overhead.

Completely wrong forum, and you don't even have the excuse that you wanted to save yourself from registering (but that saves your thread from being closed ;) )

edit:
As a "real help": There are no "best settings". It all depends on your line, your hardware, your ISP, what you download, etc... There are some basic rules which you should already know if you have read some documentation (like "use the latest versions", "change parameters in little steps and then test them" etc) and then it's just "start with the defaults, tweak a little here and there and then let it run for ~24h to see if it is stable and if it influences your download good or bad"...
